See any good movies lately?

Watched a pretty good WWII movie last night called A Midnight Clear, with Ethan Hawke and Gary Sinise. Of the WW2 movies i have seen, it's just outside my top 10 list of WW2 movies.

The new TMNT movie was pretty good. I thought it was gonna be too kid-y but it was actually very entertaining. It really is great for everyone, kids and adults.

I saw "The Purge: Anarchy" yesterday with my son at the dollar theater. It was pretty good. You definitely have to suspend a certain amount of logic and reality to buy into the basic premise of the movie, which is that everything is legal (including murder) in the "new united states" for one night a year which is known as "The Purge". This allegedly reduces crime tremendously the rest of the year by allowing people to get the bad stuff out of their system on that one night a year. This movie is a sequel to The Purge, which I didn't see, and just about everybody who saw it said it was just a horrible movie. Of course, that begs the question, why did they make a sequel if the first one was so bad? Nobody seems to know, but everybody seems to agree that this one is much, much better. It was pretty creepy and downright scary at various times and it had some good acting and at least one hot chick in it. Kiele Sanchez and her real life husband, Zach Gilford play a couple. Frank Grillo has a big role, as does Carmen Ejogo and Zoe Soul.

When I first saw that picture I thought it was Ashley Judd.

I never really thought Kiele Sanchez looked much like Ashley Judd, but I see the resemblance in those pictures. I'd have to say Ashley Judd is just one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. She is just simply stunning.

I've been on a Mystery Science Theater 3000 kick lately. For anyone that's never heard of it, it was a comedy show where they would show an old, bad movie, usually a sci-fi or horror flick, and do comedic commentary on it and rip it apart, peanut gallery style. It's pretty funny stuff.

I just saw The Brain That Wouldn't Die and Samson and the Vampire Women, and even without the commentary, both movies would have been hilariously bad. I highly recommend them, and the show.

and that was supposed to be "watched" Mercury Rising with Bruce Willis.
That's funny, because that's exactly how I originally read it. I've seen so many typos and grammatical errors on the Internet that pretty much everything looks properly written to me anymore. LOL.

I love MST3K. There are a bunch of full episodes on YouTube.

If you like history, watch Man From Earth.

Im telling you, youll be floored.

Oculus last night. Not terrible, but had one of those tragic endings that nobody likes.

I just watched Broken City with Mark Walburger, Alona Tal and Russell Crowe. It was pretty good. Not earth shattering, but good.

I watched Dallas Buyers Club and I thought it was a great movie. Usually when a movie is that loved by critics and wins that many awards, I end up hating the movie. But, this one was really good. I'm not the biggest fan of Matthew McConaughey's work, generally, but he was pretty impressive in this one. He lost a lot of weight for this role. I don't remember seeing Jared Leto in a movie before, but he was excellent in this one. Jennifer Garner was pretty good as well.

So, I finally sat down and watched Divergent. I wasn't expecting much, and to my surprise, I actually ended up really liking it - much more so than the first Hunger Games movie. I loved the lead girl, Shailene Woodley. She was so cute.

I suppose I'll watch the second Hunger Games next, since I've heard that it was better than the first one.

I liked Divergent. I didn't know anything about it going in, but my daughter wanted to see it so I rented it from Red Box and we all watched it a few weeks ago. it was pretty good.

I saw If I Stay at the dollar theater today and it was great! I may lose my man card for choosing to see this with my family for my birthday today (Wednesday), but that's what I wanted to do and what I wanted to see. I've always liked Chloe Grace Moretz a lot and she was great in this movie. I loved that music was such a huge central theme of it as well. I'm not even ashamed to admit that I had to wipe my eyes at one point. Not balling or anything, but moved. That's a good thing every now and then.

I just read the synopsis on IMDB, and that movie actually sounds interesting. I may have to check it out myself.

Happy belated birthday, BTW. :)

I just watched Food, Inc., which was pretty much a documentary rather than a movie, but it was a very interesting, enlightening experience. Anyone that hasn't checked it out yet should definitely do so.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire is finally streaming on Amazon Prime for free so I'll be watching that tomorrow night.

Watched Snowpeircer last night. Strange, strange movie. Terry Gilliam "Brazil" strange, and he wasn't involved in any way. (although there was a character named Gilliam, played by John Hurt). Post apocalyptic movie, where everyone on earth was killed except the few who train that endlessly travels around the globe.

Saw Gone Girl a couple nights ago. It was about a half-hour too long, but a good movie with a lot of plot twists. And Rosamund Pike is pretty easy on the eyes.
