Good luck getting him out of the gym. And I hear he's not one to kick in for gas for the boat, so...Edwards too

The guy randomly blacks out after races... Would you want him in your race car? I like him but what if he blacks out into turn 1? How can he be medically clear to race?Any word on what Bubba Wallace will be doing next year ?
Possible that Rick would give him a 1 yr deal in the 88 waiting for Byron. (ie Mark Martin)Thanks for the info .. I think it's looking kind of bleak. I wouldn't be surprised to see him re-up with JGR and the #20, or move over to the #77. If that doesn't work out he's probably done for ... can't imagine he wants to bother racing with a subpar organization. I know Matt's been tied to the #5 and the #88, but why would you put a 45 year old Kenseth in the car when there are a couple of good young options available?

Kenseth was real short on sponsorship after DG left, I wonder if that had to do with anything.
Even with DeWalt increasing races, Circle K, and Tide. He's still short of sponsorship... Would suck to see Matt leave not on his own terms.
Don't think that is the issue. The issue is that Erik Jones was always going to be a JGR next year. Period. Created a team for him at FRR. This is the next step, and I think age is a factor here obviously. I am pretty sure that Erik has an awesome contract that ensures this timetable.
To the #5?????
To the #88?????
IMO, The youth movement is a bit out of control when you have a quality veteran like Kenseth thats a proven champion and race winner who still has 3-5 years left in the tank, there might be a slight chance he might not be racing for any one next year. I think the dude can still go, obviously JGR as a whole hasnt been running well I dont think its just Matt.
Exactly.I believe that the youth movement is being charged by financial considerations. These accomplished Vets don't come cheap, and with tightening sponsorships there's good reason to bring up the next generation at a discount.
Darn you got me I was trying to see how far people would run with those@kkfan91 are you playing the silly season game on nascar.com?

Kenseth knows now because this is when those decisions are typically made. If you really want to get specific, he probably knew back in April when they didn't pick up his option. Carl would have been fine at JGR for several more years had he not retired.makes me wonder why Kenseth already knows that and the season isn't even half over. Makes me wonder what Carl might have known.
This sport is such a mess right now. Relies too much on sponsorships.
When big names cant even draw one sponsor, that's when you know things are dire in NASCAR right now.
Former Cup champions Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch may be out of a ride. Hendrick and Gibbs having sponsor trouble. Car counts dropping into the low 30's.
Everything's great!
Some of those older drivers worth more than 50 million are a little to demanding for what the market is willing to pay these days. ( no I don't have proof) I suspect they will all take a cut or retire. Kurt is up next followed by Hamlin, Kane, and then Harvick.IMO, The youth movement is a bit out of control when you have a quality veteran like Kenseth thats a proven champion and race winner who still has 3-5 years left in the tank, there might be a slight chance he might not be racing for any one next year.
