SILLY SEASON 2018

Never had one but Ive seen plenty of teamates recieve one and it messed them up for a bit. They were right back playing next week. Anyone who's ever played a sport knows they are at a risk for injury, that's why I think these lawsuits against the NFL are a joke.

I don't care if their wives are wiping drool either, that man got to play football for a living and made alot of money doing so. There is a price to pay for everything and if you play football long enough the price is going to be your physical and mental health.

Like you said there is a price for everything and you could be a bowler or golfer and play until you are 80 or you could be a cup driver and drive into your late 40's and escape with not much but the odd blister here and there. Contact sports are not for everyone or for the faint of heart.

I've had 2 concussions back in the football days and still get some pretty severe headaches from time to time ever since.

I know a guy who got a severe concussion his freshman year of high school and has had a headache literally ever since.

I know a guy who played hockey who if he gets one more concussion it will effect him for the rest of his life.

If I had the chance to steal my pads on and knock heads one more time I would. The guy that got the severe concussion? He wrestled on into college. The hockey player went into severe depression after he was never able to play again. He'd do it all over again.

Did any of us ever think to sue someone for whatever reason? Hell nah. Just part of the game.

NASCAR race cars (and trucks) are as safe as they've ever been. So are the tracks. The length of time since the last on-track death is remarkable. A lot of guys who deal with injuries or have dealt with injuries recently are often drivers who began their careers back before NASCAR began to take safety as seriously as they do now. Guys like Jr. and Gordon who still spent a lot of time crashing into concrete walls, didn't race with a HANS for a while, and didn't have COT-onwards safety features for a while. If a driver is just now getting their career started, I think they stand a much better chance of being healthy for the duration of their life than football players, hockey players, and even soccer players do. And they do not face the same risks of tearing their shoulders and legs apart as many athletes do. Please note this is not to say that NASCAR racing is perfectly safe.

I also agree but I think safety has hurt the product same as it has hurt the design of production cars today. Every car looks the same except for the grill, same as NASCAR and its all due to safety. It's great that these spectacular crashes can happen and the drivers walk away safe and I think NASCAR has done a great job in that matter but it has come at a cost. Danger is a big part of what sales NASCAR to casual fans and its not a prevalent as it once was. I'm not saying I want to see anymore deaths but I honestly think that's one the reasons NASCAR isn't as popular as it was.

Dave Moody suggests something is about to happen concerning silly season, and that it doesn't involve SHR. (SHR comment is in the replies to the tweet)

It is the only way he can get listeners.:D He is the ultimate NASCAR homer.

He did a great job of talking about what has already been discussed....but it came from Junior so it was extra special. I want the old Junior back....Hat turned backwards, party all night, couldn't give a sh!t.
Junior addressed the absolute Gospel truth..... Kenseth, Edwards, Biffle, Kurt Busch...... and Jr. himself could see it coming from a mile away...... all these ''older'' drivers better be making plans to move over.......

Unfortunately, time marches on. :D
And it's marching on a lot more quickly than it did when there were megabucks poured into the teams by sponsors that were knocking on the door just waiting to jump onto the great Nascar boom.......The drought has hit and the plaque of locusts are making everyone tighten their belt..... most of these drivers who are losing their ride are luckier than a 3 peckered dog to have ridden the high wave and made millions of dollars....... If they invested and saved like they should.... they ought be just fine..... The next wave to be replaced with younger drivers who will drive at discounted rates will be the age group of Kes, Logano and those..... but.... it will be a few more years..... Johnson is the only safe one out there right now.......

Kurt did some of his best driving in the 78 the team was just inconsitent back then. They were aligned with RCR at the time I could see Kurt ending up in what used to be the 27. I thought he'd be a candidate to go back to Furniture Row and drive the 77 but Allenbaba had said he thought that bridge was burned.

Amy might want the guy she has now. :D She seems to have been very good for him.

Kahne and Hendrick officially announce they will part ways after the 2017 season. Byron to the 5 and Khane to the 10 @Allenbaba?

Kenseth to the 5 I hope. Keep Byron in xfinity for another year.

One thing that surprises me is how easily some fans just magically whisk drivers into cars that very likely won't be in existence next year. There is a very strong possibility that the 77, 10 and maybe even the 41 will be history next year and they may not be the only ones.

Danica's situation seems critical as well:

She really has no "primary" sponsor for next season, it seems a buyout is not even necessary. She needs a sponsor to stay in the 10 car and considering how the NB deal went, that was the last straw.

Silly season continues to get even sillier.
