SILLY SEASON 2018

Menards to sponsor Brandon Jones, JGR’s Xfinity No. 19 in 2018
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C – Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announces today that Menards home improvement stores along with several of their best vendor partners will be the primary sponsor for Brandon Jones for 10 races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2018. The No. 19 Menards Toyota Camry will display one partner-specific brand on the hood of the racecar for each of the Menards races.

The guy cannot catch a break.

They just lost a fan of Hattori, wow that sucks badly. I want to see Ryan succeed somewhere, he really looked damn good with Hattori. Hopefully, he gets a good ride somewhere.

This is ****** lame. TRD support likely means he got dropped for a pay driver. Ryan Truex is a damn good driver. Don’t understand why he can’t keep a ride.

They haven't named a driver yet but I thought the same thing. They had a yota fest in K&N. Finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Might be one of them. :idunno:

Have seen a few rumors and twitter reports of not just Richert leaving Bk racing, but they are shut down, finally the tax liens caught up to them, can anyone confirm any?

The Lynch Racing Co., a division of Sport Venture Group, today acquired Iowa City Capital Partners' stake in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Team BK Racing which was owned and controlled by Anthony Marlowe.

This is confusing, sounds different than Spenser's report, Doesn't say a thing about Truex quitting

They found someone with sponsorship and with it being so late in the offseason, its going to be tough to find a seat to set something up. A "gentle letdown".

Sigh, I wish Red Horse was still in operation. Deloach would have signed Truex up in a hurry, but money keeps the doors open.

Deegan is pretty good, from what I've seen of her.

She'll be in a damn good car in the K&N West tour too. I hope she runs some Late Model Stock Car races, maybe Myrtle Beach and Southern National.

She ran out here in the JR Late Model series in Madera, CA last year. They were consistently top 3. I don't think she ever scored a win, but in a McAnally car she has a legit shot.

I saw one of those races last night on MAVTV HD. She was battling for second and the car in front of her spun on his own and took her out in the process.

Yeah, Madera has done a pretty good job of pushing their RPM Late Models and their using the JR Late Models as a feeder for it. I missed the 10k race that was televised last night, but 2 years ago I was helping a buddy who entered in the pits and I think they had near 80 entries. Any time you see that at a track something is going right.

Deegan will do well. Her Dad is smart and is a former athlete so he gets it. They have made the right connections out here on the West Coast to progress her career in the right manner. He is also moving her along at what seems like a good pace. She ran one or two of the full open late model races at Madera last year too so she is jumping right into the West series, but it is a young guns game these days. I think she could use some time in either the Southwest Tour or some Super Late Model series, but if the opportunity is there.......

She is in the 19 which I believe is Derek Kraus' old ride. Good team, great owner, amazing resources. In fact, McAnally just signed a 10 year deal to promote his home track in Roseville, CA. 8 dates this year and then full schedule moving forward. Rumor has it that he is looking to have a series similar to the Late Models at Madera so that the cars are essentially interchangeable. It wont be an open class like Madera's, just a 602 crate series.

I think one of her biggest assets is her dad. Johanna long benefited very well running late models, because she had a solid mentor. Freddy Query. He was a late model stud in his day. I don't know either of them personally, but I've heard she really listened and learned fast. I'd love to see her in a solid Xfinity ride.

I would like to see a few more females get an equal chance at a ride. However it seems there is a lack of sponsors out there willing to chance it.

It's a tough nut to crack. I think whoever the first woman is to win in Cup will have to come through a development program. Or have access to the same training/resources as someone like Chase Elliot. No substitute for seat time. And sadly, with the enormous expense involved in getting to the Cup level, there is so little room for mistakes or hitting a rut in development. Only time will tell.

No woman is ever going to win at the Cup level, no team is going to take that chance again.

Only time will tell. Johanna Long and Tammy Jo Kirk have both won the Snowball Derby. James Finch said it best, "it's easier to win the Daytona 500, than is is to win the Snowball Derby". The Derby is probably the most competitive short track race on the planet. Twenty six cars failed to make the field this year. Those two ladies won it. It wasn't a "gimme". They flat out won it. Can't argue with that.

Late models, big difference, there isn't one woman poised to even make a bid in Trucks or Xfinity, never mind Cup. In this day and age of dwindling sponsors, car counts, and butts in the seats, I don't see it happening.

I can, it's walking and flying difference and I don't agree with James Finch either. Races like the Snowball Derby, the Chili bowl are hugely competitive races, but they require different skills.
