SILLY SEASON 2019

I wonder if the preacher will pay a years worth of Suarez's salary and give the other team he goes to sponsorship and technical help like Rick did with Kasey. Oh wait Kenseth.

You are the biggest Kenseth fan I know. His contract was up. Some say he priced himself out of a ride, but you fail to ever mention that. I cannot imagine why.

Glad Tony bailed, and Carl. It's pretty glaring for a long time that Gibbs isn't much of a step up from Mikey. Nothing from Gibbs, I wonder if he is in a hole somewhere? Nobody seems to be able to find him...this time.

Seems like you’re the only one looking for him.
Did you try his residence? :idunno:

Who would you rather have in the 19-- a promising young gun or the defending champion and his whole team?
Who would you rather have in the 20-- a superstar in his last years, or arguably the most promising young gun at a fraction of the price?

I know that it is cute an fashionable to criticize Coach for his religious beliefs, and use that as some kind of a lame as claim that he us a hypocrite, but you do realize that he was a football coach, right? You do realize that he sent guys home knowing full well that they wouldn't have a job. So, in this context, would your expectation of Coach be that he keep everybody on the team? You do realize that his beliefs do not prohibit him from making good business decisions, and keeping his race team viable during one of the most horrid periods for the sport, right?
All I’m saying is Saurez got the knife as soon as he was starting to get into a consistant run of solid performances, chillax.

Also I’m not sure how Gibb’s religious beliefs got thrown into my comment, I don’t care what diety he talks to.

Take a breather.

I'm curious to see what will happen with the 41. Does Custer get thrown into the seat, Bell, Busch staying, or even Matt Kenseth?

I hope one of the last three options there... the other two options are either Custer who is definitely not ready or going down to three cars

I don't think going to 3 cars is the move. To hard to rehire the best people to go back to 4.
Better off to run an R&D car for a season.

I agree...but this sponsorship climate worries me that anything is possible.

yeah if or when the 41 seat comes open, there's a big question mark there. It seems Kurt likes to play games. Last year Haas said Kurt was coming back if he wanted too way early and Kurt played it to the end. This year I haven't heard Haas say anything except Kurt was looking around at his options. :idunno: He's a Busch. Gene hired him and it seemed at the time Tony didn't know about it. Threw the start up 2 car team at the time into a frenzy to add Kurt. Monster is in there somewhere. complicated

Larry Mac suggested that the sport gets rid of the RTA and owner’s councils to move the needle back towards the black.

I am 99.9999% sure it will not be Bell. I am 95% sure it will not be Busch. The word I'm getting about Custer is that Gene isn't a huge fan, and people (other than his father) don't think he's ready quite yet - either way I feel like he'll definitely be there in 2020, so if next year's driver isn't Custer, it might be a "keep the seat warm" type person like a Kenseth or whatever. I have no clue. They did throw the kitchen sink at the 78 guys who turned them down.

McMurray is out of the 1 next year.. chip offered him a Daytona 500 ride and a leadership role in the company. He's not decided if you will do that or pursue a full-time ride.

Jamie would be a better veteran presence in the NXS than Elliott Sadler.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Justin Allgaier could do in the 41 for a season lol.

Yeah that would be really interesting to see

Allenbaba - any insight on to why Kurt would leave the 41? SHR is as good a team as there is in the sport and he's won races there. I am not in the know at all but can only guess that if Custer is the driver for the 41 in 2020 he's just getting out while he controls the move or there are personality conflicts between him and SHR.

All I know is that my diecast collection will be adding another car to the 97, 2, 22, 51, 78, and 41 cars I already got.

I think he deserves another shot with a good team in cup
I hope he stays where he is In a good Xfinity car and lighting it up. I'm selfish, he has been really fun to watch in Xfinity. Going to a lesser cup team and playing follow the leader back in the pack isn't my idea of fun.

Yeah but I think he's proved himself enough to be with a good Cup team like SHR or CGR.

Suarez?

Allgaier isn't likely HOF material, but that doesn't mean another shot a Cup may not be warranted.

Not sure how the points leader and 5 time winner this season, who’s only 32 years old, doesn’t deserve at least a look at a Cup ride.

Not sure what folks expected from his 2 year stint in the 51 HScott ride. That team no longer exists btw.

Exactly its not like he was running in anywhere near top notch equipment. Isn't that the same equipment they put Kurt in and with the exception of a couple of road courses and plate races he did about the same?

The two sides developed too complicated a relationship. Without getting into specifics, let's just say both sides played games with each other, both sides were playing chicken with deal requirements, both sides needed the other side more than the other side needed them at different points, both sides called each other's bluffs, and it basically just got to the point of no return for both SHR and KB. I truly believe KB will be in the 1 next season (that deal isn't signed yet, but pretty close). At the same time, him staying at SHR isn't quite dead yet. It's on life support with very little likelihood of survival...but not technically dead (hence my 5% chance he stays).

Allgaier does deserve a shot in say the 41 ride, coupled with maybe some Brandt sponsorship, it would be cool to see

We saw how Bowyer did in the HSM car.

@Allenbaba do you have any idea if Roush and Kenseth would be able to get Jason Ratcliff over to Roush from JGR if both sides wanted to reunite? Is that as much of a pipe dream as i think it is or would there be any realistic hope of that?

Ratcliff has turned down several Cup offers in the last calendar year. Unless something weird/drastic happens, I think he and Bell will be an item for quite some time.

Not sure that there is a nicer person in the world than Jason Ratcliff. Really neat person.

Thank you for the reply. Whenever Kenseth calls it quits I'll be a Ratcliff fan. I enjoyed listening to the 20 car radio for pretty much every race from 2013-2017. Ratcliff is one of the best crew chiefs in NASCAR I believe.
