So what do you all really think of Kurt? Do you still despise him?

I hope he has solid 2nd place finish in the chase for the cup ;)

I think the top 5 talents in NASCAR are JJ, Kurt, Kyle, Smoke, Harvick. SHR gonna destroy people next year.

I have a feeling that after tonight (Richmond), KuBu may be the most despised individual this place has seen in a long, long time and I'm all for it :D

Funny how things turn out, eh ?

In terms of pure talent, I agree except I'd put Brad K in the 5th spot over Harvick. Either way I'm excited to see what SHR can do next year with Kurt and Harv on board.

Honestly I'm not sure about Smoke being in the top five still . Like Jeff Gordon , he may have slipped to 6th or 7th as he gets along in his career .I think you might have to put Carl in 5th. I assume you are talking as of right now ,not past seasons. As for SHR destroying anyone next year , they have huge structural problems to overcome by February ,I'll believe it when I see it. Driving talent will certainly help.

Does anybody think that not having Berrier as crew chief next year could be a problem for Kurt? I mean, I doubt just anybody could work with him.

If he can keep his temper in check then everything should be fine. There is no one that can give feed back about the car any better then he can.

I'm sure Berrier was a huge part of Kurt's success . If you think this years crew was bad , next year should be a complete disaster . Unknown crew chief , unknown crew , in one of them plastic garages , with left over cars . Kurt will truly have to work miracles .

After Kurt's performance at Loudon yesterday, I thought it was time to drag out this old thread. His explosion at his crew over the number of restarts and his handling problems showed to me that the nice guy stuff is just a well-polished act and deep down he is still one of the biggest a**holes in the history of a**holism that he's always been. Not only should next year be interesting, I think just the rest of the chase this year should be interesting. I think he's just about one loose lug nut away from going thermonuclear at everybody in sight.

Still, in terms of pure technical ability I think that he is one of the best drivers in NASCAR right now.

See thats the thing. It never seemed like Kurt really changed in the first place. All of his positive interview and comments seem so scripted and so cheesy. He seems super fake when hes being nice. He has been and will remain the one guy I truly cannot stand in the Cup series. Chad Knaus is not too far behind though. I dont have respect for a guy like Kurt. Loudons race did not surprise me a bit.

I've never really liked Kurt, I'm not surprised that Kyle & Kurt don't talk to each other- I wonder how things are at the dinner table during thanksgiving. Kinda like the Harbaugh brothers.

Dad: Kurt, how's the chase going?
Kurt: can you tell Kyle that he needs to slow down so I can pass him?
Dad: he's sitting right next to you, you tell him

I think he was just frustrated with his car...and rightly so....the car was junk. Heck, he was about to get passed by Danica. I'm sorry if I offended any Danica fans.

I've said this on here a few times, but I guess it's worth repeating - of all the guys I've ever worked with or dealt with in the garage (plenty), Kurt is one of the, if not THE easiest to work with. He's not an a**hole. He's not mean. He's not a jerk. He's surprisingly down to earth, and just one of the guys. Conversely, I bet a lot of you would be shocked to find out who the biggest assholes really are. That's just how things work.

I'm not saying anyone is crazy for thinking what they think about him, when all you have to work with are interviews and race day radio feeds. I'm sure I'd come to the same conclusions. But, I deal with him in some way, shape or form often...and it's always one of the easiest parts of my job. I wish I could tell you he's a first rate a-hole...but it's just not the case. Just about everyone at FRR is upset he's leaving, including the entire crew that he "exploded" at yesterday.

I know I'm no more than an anonymous message board poster, so there's really no reason to take my word for it. But for what it's worth, I've chosen to continue working with him when he goes to SHR. So it can't be all that bad, can it?

Do you still hate him? Do you think he's changed at all or is he hiding his true self? Is he a good driver and a terrible person? Can you like someone who has a temper?

I don't hate the guy anymore now that he's out of the #2 car ( wallace was my old driver ). I think he's still working on his attitude, but still has a lot of work yet to do. He's come a long way though. I think he's an amazing driver and a good person deep down, but on occasion, just loses his cool. We all do, but he's a lot more vocal about it and I think has a lot to do with his competitive nature.

Kurt has definitely had some anger issues he's had to get under control, he'll be the first to tell you that. And all of it almost exclusively manifested itself in the heat of competition. It's not like a waitress forgets his side dish and he goes berserk. It all comes from a competitive place on or around the race track. Just look at the circumstances that have led to almost every piece of video evidence against him. I'm not excusing his behavior - just saying that his tantrums don't define who he is, they merely define a moment in time.

It may not totally define who he is as a person, but it certainly does define a part of who he is as a person.

I'm sure at times Kurt is a very nice guy. And at other times a spoiled brat.

Love hearing your inside knowledge comments abouts Kurt. :)

Keep em coming.

Wow, not many people like that around is there?....

You've just described virtually every professional athlete. Probably every famous person. You've even just described me at times.

I'll leave you with one little anecdote...I've flown commercial airlines with many celebrities over the course of my career, including many whose names you'd know from the NASCAR world (Drivers, GMs, Owners etc). Most of the time, they're in first class, while my team (myself included) flies coach. Only once in all those flights has any of the "celebrities" actually smuggled a bunch of free beer out of first class, and walked them back to all us working stiffs in coach. Take a guess who that person was...

Tony Stewart?

Hey, I'm not bashing Kurt. Just saying the many video's that show Kurt going off on someone is not just a moment of his life, but a part of what makes up Kurt as a person.

Ken Schrader?

Kurt has shown what a great talent he is . You could do a whole lot worse ,Alan. On the other hand you may have to help put out fires from time to time.:)

Yep, Kurt its still an unapreciated douchebag.

Just wait until he gets to SHR when he secures his ride. Dude will be a ticking bomb.

I'm calling it now, Harvick and Busch will get in some sort of fight by the end of next year.

Hey man, I appreciate your insights but I must say, a little biased.

You sound like his wife, no offense.

Those are the things a wife would say of his husband.

I think everyone has a**hole friends that they like and the rest dont. One just ignores that fact because of the close friendship or what have you.

Personally I think its a Busch bros thing. Between the two of them you could make a good soap opera out of the drama those two generate.

Allenbaba, who would you consider are the biggest jerks in Nascar? I don't get to see these guys outside of the races and interviews. Thanks :D

Yeah , that's not what Alan needs to do . Burn his bridges with other jerks in Nascar .
