Storage building

Put the pallet structure in the shed as think may be some rain coming. Six loose 46" 2x4 pieces with at least 4 more on the structure plus I think four eight foot 2x4's. Of course the pallet boards are junk. They just split and fall apart. Half dozen or so 24 ish 2x4's. Definitely enough to be worth the 45 minute trip. Less than two gallons gas. Need to find Phillips bit for driver to disassemble as main structure is screwed together. Will drag outside to finish disassembly.

Phone doesn't do it justice.

Got the pallet mostly torn down. Hate the Phillips screws. Probably cut slats with circular saw on base as really tough to pry off. They just spit into small pieces anyway.

Neighbors trailer burning this morning. Fire department is 1.5 miles away. Took 10 minutes for first person to get on site. Appears to have started in living room where TV was plugged in. Said TV & cable box went off, smelled smoke so unplugged everything. Then one of them saw flames shooting out the wall onto front porch. Grabbed important papers and the kids and out the door. Burned up about 12-15 foot section of one side. Was surprised they saved that much. Lost their dog.

Turns out our FD doesn't have a water tanker. Had to connect to a hydrant nearly 200 yards away. Whole bunch of 6 ish inch line. I mean if the fires origin had been inside the trailer it would have burned slam down before the FD got on site. 90% of the damage is on the porch and from where they ripped the metal off to get to the wall framing at floor level. There is a word for that spot but my brain hasn't retrieved it. Allllmost... it's right there but can't quite reach it...

Rim joist? Think that's it. I'm amazed it didn't burn all the way down.

AI says: A rim joist is a structural board that runs along the perimeter of a building's foundation, connecting the ends of floor or roof joists and providing support. They are crucial for the structural integrity of a building, as they offer lateral support to prevent the structure from twisting and provide a solid base for attaching walls and floors. Rim joists are essential for energy efficiency and can be insulated to prevent air leakage and moisture intrusion.
