Subway out!

I believe Daniel Suarez is an emerging superstar. His bootstrap success story is compelling, and his personality is engaging. With all due respect to Carl Edwards as a marketing dream, Suarez is also a marketing dream. And he's in Nascar, while Edwards isn't.

not for Subway

Subway can go F themselves. They will hire anyone with a pulse to make their "gourmet" sandwiches, which aren't even made right half the time because the lazy mouth breathers they hire couldn't care less. Then they will "forget" to give you your change if you pay in cash. And they usually head straight to the back as you walk out the door so they can get back to smoking their joint.

I have had a very good experience with most Subway's in my area as a friend of mine owns several of the franchises and hires strong managers.

Do you get better service at any of the other minimum-wage-paying sub joints?

Do you get better service at any of the other minimum-wage-paying fast food joints?

Normally I only go to fast food joints in emergencies like when bark on a tree is unavailable or I am in a big hurry. I am not a food snob or a health nut but what I have found is that I can go into a mom and pop place, spend about the same dough and normally get good service and better food. McD's used to be known for clean restaurants and restrooms, fast and hot food plus polite service. In the last few years when I have stopped in for coffee (love McD's coffee) the restaurants often smell, the food isn't fast or hot and many of the front line workers should never be the face of a company.

This seems like JGR got another competing sponsor for next year and they just got word. I see them going to Bubba, Blaney (still needs some sponsorship I believe) or Larson but I'm just speculating.

If you are wearing $ubway colors, with them paying for your ride you should be handing out subway products, not some other food, snack product.

Note: Never have been affiliated with them, either.

Should be common sense, drivers have to know they're walking on eggshells in today's sponsor landscape.

Suarez has a much bigger fish on the line anyway. Arris, and the Mexican family of Domit's, Carlos is reputed to be the richest man in the world, 80 billion, and they are racers.

Finally, sponsor ARRIS is a “broadband and video delivery technology” company based in Suwanee, Ga., outside Atlanta. Might seem like an odd fit for NASCAR sponsorship, until you realize Domit and his father control one of the world's largest telecommunications companies, Telmex and its U.S. affiliate, Telmex USA, and has plenty of broadband and video delivery technology needs.
And the Yota connection:

Hispanics buy more Toyotas than any other car brand (as do African American and Asian Americans) and the company wants to keep it that way. The involvement with Suarez is just one of the company's Hispanic initiatives.

Is there even another national sub chain can compete ?, or who would be this competing sponsor that I am not thinking of ?

Jimmie John's but they are with Harvick, maybe Quiznos
I was thinking Quizno's , but was not sure they were even still a thing anymore, cant tell you where there is one out here

I thought Quizno's went under a major contraction. I don't think they have the marketing dollars to spend.

jws926, I saw one somewhere recently but can't recall where. Probably somewhere between Columbia SC and Wilmington NC.

I thought that too Charlie *went under a major contraction*, I just did a real quick look, and we have 10 locations here in AZ

Was probably an option and its only leaving one race open Nature's Bakery left alot more than one race.
It looks like this thread was created as a troll to start a Danica argument.

I knew the day the Nature's Bakery deal was announced that there was no way a company that small could sustain three years of almost full sponsorship on a Cup car. I wasn't the least bit surprised when the inevitable happened.

Hey be careful that mistaken identity could get you arrested

That story goes back to about 2001, and in the garage area he was about as popular as a case of the flu back then too. The crew chief who mistook me for him apologized profusely.

Pretty much, explains why KTM came after me for saying something that was not even close to being connected too Danica, I cant say anymore :D

But yeah, NB got way in over their head on that deal , they knew better , and still went forward.

So they get a pass while Nature's Bakery got crucified? Ok.
I would say they have an out clause for driver changes. They were Carl's sponsor so to speak.
It could also be that they don't want Suarez.

about as obvious as Suarez and Subway being a good match. got a feeling it was breach of contract when Carl left suddenly.

Subway franchise owner don't money unless they cheat or own multiple stores.

The timing just seems so strange. Why even risk negative publicity by dropping him with one race to go? Just do the last race and then either move to another team or move on. Sometimes I think these companies are their own worst enemy, by making themselves look foolish trying to avoid looking foolish.
Which is also my opinion.

Nope. I was just surprised they dropped out with ONE race to go. makes no sense to me.

I was once mistaken for Mike Harmon at a race. I guess that doesn't say much for my physique...... :)
Better than being mistaken for Fat Back McSwain

My guess: Subway sells breakfast sandwiches. Dunkin Donuts also sells breakfast sandwiches. Therefore, Subway and Dunkin are competitors. IMO that is why Subway is leaving JGR and Suarez.

I could see it being this, and mmmmm doh!-nuts

Thanks Daniel Suarez. You ran off a sponsor who has been on cars for atleast the past 12 or 13 years, honestly probably a lot longer than that.

Probably....and that's makes Subway a bunch of idiots. I have never had to choose between Dunking ****** Donuts and Subway for my breakfast, and I am betting that you would be pressed to find somebody who has.

If they are like drink beverages anything that is edible is a competitor.
And FWIW we used to stop early on race mornings and load up with Subway Subs, probably around 7 or 8 am. They could be ate when purchased and they were great for dropping in the cooler, and eating at the track. It was a cheaper alternative to track food, with no lines and missed race time, either.
Last of all, I would take a Sub over a doughnut almost anytime. Doughnuts are more like getting nutrition from a bag of cheetos.

FWIW several people have known Subway was leaving the 19 for much longer than July. Like, in March/April. They have also spoken to at least one other team, also before July. This D&D thing just seems like a convenient excuse.

Taco Bell?
Hey many were thinking it I bet!

Thanks, Allen. It just didn't seem right that they would bail so suddenly over so trivial a matter.(at least to me, trivial)

Thanks for the clarification, on the outside things can be hard to discern. .

Didnt juan of the throwback race throwback announcers indicate that was on the throw forward....
