Texas RACE thread

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and consider that JR, since he has nothing to lose and only fans to gain ... might just find someone's fender next race ... maybe several times. Think if he puts ******* into the wall a time or two might ramp up his popularity going into the off season?

Junior is a popular guy already, has tons of fans here in Arizona, anything he does here is met with much approval but Phoenix is a tough track for payback IMO

Good stuff! Thanks for posting.

Gordon left a huge hole open on the retart but by the time they came to the entrance of turn one it wasnt there. Gordon held the high lane and Kez just used him as a leaning post. Im all for checkers or wreckers but damn, be smart about it. Race hard, not stupid.
I just can't see a hole at all. I mean, technically, there's some space there but never really something he should have tried to drive through. Unless he didn't care to be a bulldozer. Brad knew that we was gonna slam into him.
Whether that's an appropriate approach to going for the win or not, varies with each person I guess.

Different opinions ive seen many many Gordon fans say that jeff was wrong. After all it's racing.not riding in position.

I'm just gonna voice my opinions ... I don't think shooting the gap was a bad thing to do. Gordon can get as pissed as he likes (and he should ... he's going the the cup), but racing is racing. I'll put more blame on the tin foil crap cars that one little ding is enough to cut down a tire. 40 years ago, they could have banged doors for the entire lap and you'd still see the Goodyear going round. What I will call is turning his back on Gordon while people were holding him back. THAT was a ***** move. The Shove tho ... that was a real ***** move. Harvick should have kept his hands to himself ... or thrown a punch himself.

Brad did the same thing to the 48 at this race in 2012; the only difference is Jimmie's tire didn't get cut.

He was wrong to go fight kez imo. Stay classy Jeff.

The best form of revenge is beating him on the track next week & winning the championship the following week.

Local radio just reported on last night's pit road brawl, while the theme from Deliverance played in the background, followed by a few sound bytes of Roscoe P. Coltrane kicking Enos' ass. Very funny stuff :D

Yeah...expected that sort of thing. ;) I was driving around this morning and was switching the radio around between the various Sports Radio stations...they were saying stuff like "Nascar is going back to it's roots". The national shows never miss a chance to hate on nascar.

I can't believe the overreaction on here. Gordon slid up the track and left the door open, and Brad had 4 fresh tires and went for it. He needs a win to make the next round. He got into Jeff but it wasn't deliberate he just happened to cut his tire. I've seen that happen many times. Sucks for Jeff but it was a racing incident. Can't hate on Brad for going all out for the win

I don't remember the last time local TV had anything about Nascar in their morning show. The announcer had a hard time with Kevin Harvicks name, it was Kevin uh Harvick and while the fight was going on he said "this is a real fight". lol. I think the weather man knew a little more, he chimed in that with "and yeah they race again next weekend."

Ricky Craven got it right just after the race "Brad has no credibility or respect throughout the garage because of cheap shots like this. Every week somebody is wanting to kick his butt for doing dumb things". I think that pretty much says it. Then the talking heads got their orders and started the, it's just racing chant which in my opinion is bull crap. I just tried to scan this thread for some good content but 95% of the posts were stupid trolls so I'm glad I logged off and watched a movie.

Brad reminds me of Ernie Irvin early in his career. Ernie was reckless on the track although "he" had talent.

I wonder if Brad will get voted the "Most Popular" driver this year. :)

We all know that Josh Wises to lose

I think that Keseklowski made a risky move that could've easilly cost him. He had to have known where he stood in the points. Maybe he was more concerned with #48 blocking him and knew he had to get around him to have a chance at the win.

That move ended up costing #24 but could've quickly gone the other way.

I'm sure Gordon's spotter told him the 2 was inside so he tried closing the door and paid the price.

Stewart/Ward.

You have to think this whole mess could have been avoided if they weren't driving around with large metal spikes sticking off the right sides of the cars, ready to cut tires like something out of a Bond movie.

The talking heads claimed that Nascar has said that those skirts were to tough to control so they're letting it go.

How difficult is it for Nascar to say that if you grab onto that area of the car and pull it out, you're going to be held in the pits for a lap and for the officials standing there counting lug nuts to watch for that at the same time?

Agreed! Two things they need to get rid of, fender flares and oil pumps/lines that snap off when they hit the wall and burst the car into flames.

The overhead shot on the other thread shows it better..but this gif is good for Gordon fans. If you close one eye and squint just right, you can swear it was all Kez's fault. Doesn't show how slow Gordon was going, like he had an anchor dragging behind him.

Had a great weekend at the track, partied at Campground 3 saw a dude get branded on the leg by his friend with a fire poker. Brawl was nice way to end the weekend, glad to see Keslowski get roughed up he's a punk.

Gordon might be slow but that doesn't mean there's a hole. It just means Gordon was slow.

looks like he got passed to me, Jeff needs to work on his restarts, he has been flubbing them all year, he really got bit this time.

Yeah probably so, I'm sure Jeff was mirror driving with a mirror full of the 2 car. Kez's fender was past his front door when they rubbed. Gordon tried to block it and he paid the price.

You have to use common sense, however.

While there was a small window to get in there, they were also coming into turn one and you have to know that the guy on the top will have to come down and slow in order to take the turn so that spot wasn't his to take yet.

Was Kez thinking Gordon would wall himself in order to give mighty Kez that spot?

I missed the sign that said this spot isn't yours to take yet..please wait until I get thru spinning my tires and slowing down. I'll keep watching the replay
