BGS teams have been told NASCAR won’t make a decision until Thursday at the earliest.
There’s still a lot of uncertainty with the forecast. It could end up being just rain on the coast.

I don't get it, a 1/4 mile track how hard is it to clear? Skid loader, tractor, truck with a plow, 30 people with shovels......

The forecast is still low confidence.
There are three different scenarios.
The most likely, at the moment, is the system is offshore and delivers a ton of snow and ice to Eastern North Carolina, and the impacts west of 95 are mild.
The worst case scenario is the same thing as last week, the storm tracks closer to land which delivers snow to the entire state (with the coast getting rain).
Then there's a scenario where it's so far offshore that there are no impacts in North Carolina.
There's a reason NASCAR's waiting until Thursday.
If they cared about the folks about to travel there (fly, drive, etc) as well as the teams, recognize the reality and reschedule. The 10 day forecast is continuously very cold, but not much a snow/ice scenario past this weekend. On the other hand, they seem to be treating this like any other race situation, when rain is likely. Just get there, set up, and delay if necessary until you get it in. But this facility doesn’t have facilities like normal tracks.
Oh well, I’m just a fan with an opinion. They’ll do whatever they do.

It's a 50 minute drive for the teams and almost all the fans who will be going live near Winston-Salem.
I'm sure NASCAR will make a decision on Thursday if it's still looking bad. Snow and ice are different than normal rain and we're asking A LOT for the state to be able to run this back with prep and cleanup.

FWIW, the Apple Weather app is ****.
That app was also still calling for like 36 inches of snow when all of the data said it would be an ice storm. It was also saying temperatures here would be in the mid-to-upper 60s last weekend.
It's going to be hard to miss CBell.

It really is....,maybe one of my all time favorites. Are you kidding me? Building that thing in a secret garage? I get the money thing, etc.; but Penske did this as an engineering exercise. The loophole wasn't supposed to work, but he made it work. Incredible.

You would think the jet dryers could get rid of the snow pretty quickly. How far the water gets before refreezing is another question.

The track. pits and parking lots are cleared off as we speak. They are ready to go in that area. They are still calling for snow on Saturday though.

Race fans can be so fair weather. Yeah if the place is covered in snow and ice cancel it, but not for cold.

Our weather people around here say snow predictions are the hardest out of all of them. I go by what they say, but I am not surprised if it is less or more than predicted. A dry snow and they could blow it off on that little track with leaf blowers lol.
