    I’ve never had them sautéed.
Boiled nopales need a rinse because they get the slime like okra...very tasty.

  2. TexasRaceLady

    TexasRaceLady Plank Owner Contributor

Yeah --- they really need to be cooked quickly to avoid the slime.

I had a real fine patch of prickly pear, the stuff grows like mad ...... my son fell into it one Christmas morning and the wife requested that my cactus leave the premises :( we spent the entire day picking thorns

I only want the Shrimp and Grits a couple times a year, this keeps it special. If anyone wants the recipe, I'll would be glad to post it. Trust me, it ain't what you get in a restaurant in 15 minutes.

It takes the wife about an hour to make ours. An old old coastal family recipe.

Just properly cooking the grits takes a while.

I really like My Cousin Vinny, another great scene, imo of course.

I dated a girl for about 6 months when I was in Fla. Very attractive,
she had gone through the school and been a stew for while but the constant flying messed up her ears. But as smart and good looking as she was she was a grit eater and had to go....

I'm feel sure she is far happier now. :lol2:

Pot roast in the Dutch oven...

Had a pot roast done in a new fangled instant pot recently, just as tasty as done the old fashioned way.

The difference between crock pot and Dutch oven is that you can’t sear a roast in a crock pot. Those yummy bits on the bottom of the crock pot after searing add a lot of flavor.

My wife sears the roast in the instant pot before she sets it to cook.

Yesterday was Taco Tuesday but I had leftover pot roast that had to be ingested.
    Today became Taco Wednesday.
Homemade California style hard shell tacos, black beans, Meskin rice.

Mustard, relish and maybe a bit of cheese and jalapeño.
