Been at the largest rv show in America for the past couple days @Johali. Man, you'd love this place. Lots of great deals. We're not shopping this time around but this is where I'd come if i were.

I've wanted to make it up there. Maybe next year. I'll have to put both hands in casts so I can't sign anything though. :D
 
Just a few pictures. With just one day in Chicago, I was mainly focused on getting some cool views of the skyline. We went to a few museums, but I'm not a huge fan of museums so I didn't take any pictures there. As expected, Chicago is beautiful!

Great pics. Which zoo is that? My wife and I are yearly members of the zoo so we can pop in or out whenever we want and it is really affordable, i.e. $100 or less for the both of us. Regular tickets are like $20ea so if we go 2 or 3 times it pays for itself.
Anyway, we have so many stories from the zoo its crazy.
Love the African Wild Dogs! We caught them playing around in their little pool one day just having fun. So cool to see them interact with each other. Big fan of the Rhinos too! Such a huge animal! My wife likes the giraffes.
Good stuff!

Thanks! I'm a member as well. Everything is so expensive these days so it's nice to be able to make a trip into town and do something fun without having to pay anything. Also, the 50% off at other zoos is a great bonus. But this is the Sedgwick Country Zoo in Wichita, Kansas. It's actually a really great zoo. Obviously there are many better zoo's out there, but this one typically ranks pretty high. I've never actually caught them doing anything other than sleeping, but I'm a big fan because they are such a social animal. They are never more than a foot away from one another. I did see the maned wolves prancing around for the first time so that was a nice treat. Probably my favorite animal I've seen at a zoo was the Sand Cat which was at the Tulsa zoo. They almost look like a domestic cat. I wasn't even aware such a cat existed until I saw them at the zoo.

Had to look the Sand Cat up. Very cool! They look exactly like a house cat. haha.
Speaking of never knew it existed, I went to the San Diego zoo and saw an Okapi! I swear that is what happens when a giraffe makes it with a zebra that has a mule bloodline! haha Never knew these animals existed but wow, crazy stuff!

I spent my day off hiking at quite likely the best hiking area in Kansas, which is the Tallgrass National Prairie Preserve. This was my first time hiking the back country trails, They've got roughly 20 miles of trails...I did about 8 miles. I failed to read the signs at the visitors center and went on a trail that was closed at halfway, meaning I had to backtrack. From that point, I would have been 1.5 miles from the original trailhead, but instead I had to backtrack which would have added an extra 5 miles onto my hike. It almost felt like a movie because my legs were nearly dead, but I luckily saw the tour guide bus in the distance and met up with it with 3.5 miles left in my hike and was able to hitch a ride thankfully as I don't think I could have finished the last 3.5 miles. It was pretty lucky because I think the bus only runs three times a day. Anyway, here's a few pictures from the day. I'm not exactly sure what kind of snake I saw. I know it wasn't anything venomous because Kansas venomous snakes are pretty easy to identify. I'm thinking it's a Bull snake as it did appear to be larger than a gopher snake.

Snakes! Yikes....they are illegal down here but Australia has all the bad ones.

Oh yeah, Australia and Africa have it pretty rough compared to here in the US. Over the years, I've recalled seeing a a Milk Snake, a Rough Green Snake, a Yellow Belly Racer, a Northern Water Snake, and now a Bull Snake if that's what I saw today. When I was young and didn't care about snakes, I also stepped on one in the rough at a golf course and also saw one at the lake that was in it's "ready to strike" pose. Like I said, I booked it once I saw them, so I didn't stick around to actually look at it or to get pictures. Thankfully, I've never actually come across anything too dangerous. I've always been freaked out by snakes and I still am. It's just natural, but the last two snakes I've seen haven't even cared that I was there. This one was sunbathing on the trail. I tossed a small twig over there hoping the snake would slither away. It didn't, so I just walked behind it and it didn't even care. Typically, they will either slither away at first sight or they'll just stay there and completely ignore you.

Within a half hour of my home I have hundreds of trails to hike.

Sweet! Get out there and make sure to take pictures! It's crazy how people would rather go out and spend money on things when hiking is typically 100% free. It wasn't until I graduated high school that I really became big with hiking and nature. It's such a relaxing thing to do.

I absolutely love hiking these trails and summer is coming for us so I'll for sure be there and take pics.

Lately it's been more wet than anything else. This is where they used to film Xena Warrior Princess.
You make it look like just about anywhere.
 
During a business trip in Italy last week I stayed one night in Riva Del Garda located on the Lake Di Garda in northern Italy in the mountains, crystal clear and unbelievably beautiful. I drove around the west side through tunnels and stopped at various vistas, weather was sunny and cool, Olive orchards all throughout the area. It was a great visit. Pictured below is a view of Lake Di Garda. This is just one of many great views. This is the start of the Alps.

Went up north tuesday to a beach called Mangawhai about an hour and a half drive. I was the only one there.
Temp still got up to around 70 but overnight was pretty cold. I went to get milk at 7.30 am and it was 8C or 47F degrees :eek:.
Those are winter temps.
