What Do you Think of the New Package?

This is a bizarre thing to pivot to, but no, there were the same number of winners last year as of the Pocono race. Last year was when some were whining about how only a few teams were dominating and something must be done to allow others to catch up.
Harvick and Busch (2 winners out of 6) had won 9 races between them. This year Truex, Busch, and Kez (3) have won one more race 10 between (3 winners out of 6).

Lmao. Prob burned out slamming it.

Either the reporter hasn't done his research, or he is baiting KB. Either way, he got what he had coming. I hate this kind of reporting, and honestly, I am disappointed that Gluck is defending him. Is there anybody on the face of the planet that doesn't know what Kyle thinks of the package?

since when is Pocono noted for passing is what I want to know.
Pocono isn't exactly noted for barn burner races and photo finishes. It has a lot to do with how the cautions fall, race strategies, etc. 4 out of the last 6 races were won by over a second or more over second place.

Pocono use to have the best racing. That is not me saying that; even though I witnessed 30 straight races in person; Stock Car Racing magazine had an article in the mid eighties saying Pocono was the most competitive track.
I know a lot of you are rolling your eyes. Just check racing-reference and see how many lead changes the races use to have.
The track is still in Pennsylvania, still a 2.5 mile tri angle, still asphalt. So what has changed to make Pocono a track where most people have the opinion it is boring and should lose a race.
Well the only common denominator left is the cars, back when cars were not works of aerodynamic wizardry. They weren't sucked to the ground, skewed sideways, each side of the body a different shape.
I lived and saw those races with my own eyes and the racing was tremendous. 40 to 50 lead changes a race, without any gimmicks to artificially close up the field. A guy would get the lead down the long frontstrech and lose it on the Long Pond straight and then another pass would happen out of the tunnel turn. Bring that racing back and the stands and infield wouldn't be empty like yesterday. Watching Richard Petty run the tunnel turn was pure artistry, he loved that turn.

That was when the pole speed was in the lower 150's MPH. Yeah they could get by with a different car. I checked the stats on a few. Most had leaders in the 20's and the margin of victory was over 9 seconds for one in the 80's, most around a couple of seconds. Frankly I don't see a heck of a lot of difference. Pocono is it's own animal.

They were qualifying in the 190s at Talladega and Daytona back then. I think they were using the brake a lot at Pocono around that time.

Oh I'm sure. I couldn't even imagine what it must of been like for those brakes. Heavy, bulky, stock cars 6" off the ground trying to scrub off speed to make a 120 degree turn after hitting 200mph on the frontstretch. That sounds like a fun race :)

Interesting that the winningest driver and the bully with no wins don't like the package. I enjoy the way Kyle toys with the walking microphones

A clear majority do not, and the low downforce package was the one championed and influenced by driver input. They have just been the two most vocal about it. Keselowski's disapproval was evident yesterday.

Mindless tinkering to attain an unknown goal, it isn't productive imo We get a differen't and unknown result at every race now, no meaningful testing until race day. Sometimes I think we just need Dale Earnhardt back again, people listened to him. We got Michigan coming up, nobody knows what to expect, maybe that's supposed to be appealing

Gimmicks are insulting

It is absolutely amazing to me that the leader in points and wins bitches about the package, and all I heard on NASCAR Radio today was people bitching about his bitching. Conversely, the Crew Chief of the number 4 which has won absolutely nothing this year whines about a splitter, and everybody seems to think that is the ticket. Wouldn't you rather listen to the guy who has so much to lose, and nothing to gain over the guy who is trying to find his ass? I mean, really, it is absolutely unthinkable.

If they're using a new splitter, it shouldn't be with that All-Star package. That looked like an 2019 intermediate package race with 8 cautions in 88 laps to make it exciting.

Honestly, NASCAR just needs to hold its line right now. It has made it clear that this is the definition of NASCAR Racing, so this is what it is. I guess I have no pallet for racing. I have never been dissatisfied. There is always something to watch...something to think about.

I don't mind watching it at some tracks.

From a drivers perspective I see why they think it's junk.

Yes, he should be listened to. Why are you of all people not?

the 1.5's have been the big gainers. Quite a let down from those at Pocono. I don't care what any driver's think, they aren't paying the bills. All of the packages are new and untried at the start of the season. I think that there will be changes next year as data is accumulated to improve some of these other tracks that need help. Nascar is handcuffed about being able to make changes on the fly upsetting the precious OEM's setups for a year in advance.

Don't see why she is causing trouble? #graspingatstraws

“Our steering box had 10,000 miles on it, which was not abnormal in the past. But going forward it’s probably a part and piece for us … you have to rethink the mileage and you have to rethink the thickness of the materials.”

I'm just kidding around. She's supposed to be one of the good ones who doesn't pay attention to the dissent and drawbacks of the package.

Good question....I will be frank....I would rather Kyle have four wins and dominate the season in something he hates than have less with something he loves. I couldn't ask more from the season he is having. Why would I want something different? Besides that, he gives us all something to talk about. Could this really be any better?

Kyle would have 4 wins either way. Harvick is struggling and that's the one guy that's missing from the equation and allowing these multiple wins by other guys right now.

Gosh, who would have thunk that a major component that lasted many miles in the past is suddenly over stressed to the point of failure ? All this at a track where they shifted multiple times in the past and are now running complete laps in high gear. All these changes and the result is pissed off drivers and pretty low ratings for the race ( according to the race rating results ) see more @steeringboxlivesmatter.com and learn what you can do to help.

where are all of these steering box or suspension failures from the horrendous cornering speeds? Breaking news at 10.

Apparently in the 4 car area and maybe the 19, I heard he had issues as well. No, I guess Martin lost an engine
