What should Chads penalty be CHEATING AGAIN?

If there is no reduction, HMS spent a lot of time to get 5 or 6 more people to call them cheaters. Kind of like a cheaters confirmation.

All three appeals that Middlebrooke has seen have been reduced. It would be unprecedented if he didn't reduce the penalty. Besides, if Clint Boywer was allowed to keep his trophy for the win when the truck "pushed" him, (Shane Wilson got 2 weeks knocked off his suspension), Chad should get a couple weeks knocked off the suspension that NASCAR gave him. No points will be deducted though.

if you ain't cheatin you ain't trying..... I think they all bend the rules....just don't get caught, but there should be a clear structure to take points away from the car and the owner depending what was done and how many times you are caught.

That is a lot easier said than done. Crew Chiefs keep coming with new things that haven't been an issue before.Nascar can't make a blanket penalty if the infractions are always new. Then the crew chiefs go from one team to another , would their record follow them?Or would it stay with the owner?

I would say follow them, buyer beware if you are the owner. and I am sure if they wanted to they could figure it out.It would have to be different for each kind of track. like messing with something that helps arro would be a harsher penalty at Daytona than it would at Bristol. I am not saying it would be easy and it would need tweaking each season, but could be done

as for new things that nascar didn't think of I guess you go well you got us and add it in next season. you would almost need ex crew chiefs and engineers to try and come with all possibility's.

Next week in a room at NASCAR’s R&D facility in Concord, N.C., retired General Motors executive John Middlebrook will hear the final appeal of Hendrick Motorsports. The crime of course being “c-posts” that, according to NASCAR, did not meet specifications.
Soon after, we’ll learn what Middlebrook’s decision is. Given his past, there is a chance the penalty could be lessened. Either way, you better believe the Hendrick media machine will be in overdrive.
For weeks, the team has displayed shock that NASCAR issued this penalty. Rick Hendrick said “the system broke down” and Chad Knaus said there was a “bit of subjectiveness” to the penalty. I mean, it’s unbelievable that Knaus could be getting penalized for working outside the rulebook, right?
What’s that you say Lee Spencer?
Well, there’s that I guess.
The truth is, despite his objections to the contrary, Chad Knaus very likely knew what the team was doing. And if he did, then he deserves to get sanctioned – if he didn’t, he’s not doing his job very well.
Time after time we listen to these teams act like some rogue employee made the offending change to the car – or in this case, that no penalty had even occurred. They’re of course doing it for the sake of perception – and I can understand that – but don’t expect us to believe it.

I don't know much about the guy,but don't you want guys that know how to cheat looking for cheaters

Believe us Biffle ,Nascar is quite capable of dealing with this issue .They have been capably dealing with it for many years .They don't need any more help.

lol ok I am sure they are not reading my post here and taking it as help. I have only been watching nascar for 8 years or so,some of you have been watching for 50 like my fater-in-law. and know a lot more than I do. I was just throwing my thoughts out there..

Me too.:D

Considering the number of times he's been caught, it would appear - to me at least - that Nascar has been anything but effective in dealing with Knuas.

Who Gives A Chit About A Little Penalty JJ on the MOVE UP
JJ - 17th
JG - 23
KK - 32

I'm going with everything remaining the same after the appeal appeal is heard today.

I'll put my money on a reduction of the suspensions to 4 weeks and year long probation for Chad and his car chief. Points and fines remain the same. Not actually hitting the track would have been a great argument if Rick hadn't opened his mouth about the car racing already. But NASCAR never measured them, so HMS will get some consideration for NASCAR failing to follow procedure.

“We can't pull back,’’ he says. “”If we do that, we are going to get beat and if we get beat, I am out of a job. There are rules and regulations, we are going to follow … and we are going to do everything we can to stay within NASCAR's bounds. But we have got to build the best race car out there.’’

Chad Knaus - 2006

Just another guy who couldn't pull back enough to stay out of trouble. :D

Part of the evidence was an affidavit from a NASCAR official saying that the C-posts were legal from a previous inspection.
And they weren't given the chance to correct deficiencies at Daytona as other cars were.

Thats still a steep fine....I could see 50 K, but 100??
Good for Chad and Jimmy!!!

I have to wonder how on Earth Chad could prove that the C-posts weren't touched after recieving that affidavit. I'm happy that nascar's inconsistancy with rules inforcement bit them in the ass.

What? Rick and Chad walked out with a solid gold yule log in their asses. This was a huge gift. It may hurt a little, but they're happy to have them.

Still a heavy penalty for being found "not guilty". The bright side, is atleast I know who my "A" driver will be this weekend!! :)

True. Maybe Middlebrook collected that $100,000 himself. "Don't worry Brain, I fined him".
