So I thought Montoya was going to get the 78 ride but he's heading back to Indycar so who fills the seat that is filled by Kurt Busch now?

My money would be on Burton at this point, considering they just re-upped with RCR...Doesn't mean I'd put Burton in the car but I suspect that's what will happen.

Wasn't Berrier CC for Burton the last time he was in the Chase? It's a long time ago, I know.

I'm not so sure it'd be Burton considering how Childress said what Jeff planned to do in 2015, I think we all assumed retirement/partial schedule. Would FRR want a guy that would only be in the seat for 1 yr and have to replace him again in '15?

I understand the picking are slim, but why not go for more of a longer term contract? I'm a Labonte fan so I'd love to see him get it, but he hasn't been rumored to anyone so that tells me most of the owners think he's done.

That being said I'm gonna go w/ Hornish, Penske doesn't have a spot for him and a driver can only be loyal for so long.

They didn't seem to mind doing it this year.

bet burton /frr was part a' newman / rcr deal. ?

Yeah but Kurt is a risk/reward driver, he's worth the risk because he can perform, if he behaves then you reward him w/ a longer term deal, which they tried to do. Who knew SHR or any other organization would start a new team just for him?

Woah Dog, you already picked Montoya for furniture row and were patting yourself on the back about it. yo crystal bawl dis broke ha!:) If Burton do go, your looking at top 25 IMO. he can't drive a RCR to any better then 20th avg.

They'll probably pick Burton because he is the safe Bobby Labonte-type choice that won't smash the car up and won't cause any outrage or controversy.

I'd go for a younger guy who is still hungry, but I don't see it happening.

If Burton gets it is he just keeping the seat warm for the other Dillon?

Just looking at what's available man I dunno. I would say Allgaier but it seems like he's already got a Cup deal seeing as how he was in the race Sunday.

Hmmm, wouldn't other Dillion just race for Pop Pop at RCR? I kind of assumed Newman was keeping the seat warm for Ty at RCR.
Yeah probably, just speculating because FRR has such a tight alliance w/ RCR.

Grandpa's going to have to find a sponsor for Ty before he can bring him up. Bass Pro can't fund two full-time teams; no sponsor has pockets that deep any more.

I think after the success they've had this year, they probably feel like they can compete now and will therefore want an experienced guy, not an up and comer.

As much as I don't like either of these guys, I feel as though Hornish or Sadler would do alright in the 78, likely better than Burton would. However my gut tells me Burton will get it, due to his past connections with Berrier and RCR.

I don't know who is going to replace Kurt, but they are going to have to bring their A game if the want to measure up to what Kurt has done with that team this year.

I can almost make a bold prediction on that one...ain't nobody out there that will do as well that will drive the 78. Not because I am a hysterical Kurt lover, I look around and don't see a driver who can out drive him that is loose and would go there..
Kurt has been blowing smoke about how good they are all year IMO. Yeah they are better, but when he is gone, I believe they drop to a top twenty team.

I think Burton is done.. I know their is not many options but if the team wants to contend for wins, I might suggest trying to grab a really young guy, entice him with a cup ride.. someone like a Jeb Burton. Probably not ready but Sadler doesn't deserve it and I doubt Sam leaves penske

What about that Alex Bowman kid? He doesn't get any hype, but he's been solid as a rookie in NNS. Larson gets all the press but this kid could be a real good one. Also agree with Jeb Burton he looks like he'll have a bright future

Agreed, Kurt's been making them look better than they really are IMO.

I was thinking the same thing about Alex and I was wondering if anyone else had thought about him.

You guys are pushing the easy button. Most of those drivers you are naming are already obligated to larger better teams. Finding a loose one or pulling one away and out to Colorado for a one car team? I think you are forgetting that Kurt is the show there. When he leaves ya got a one car team in Colorado. If I am a young hotshot, I want to be in the middle of it on the east coast.

While I do agree that Kurt has helped FRR, the RCR alliance has helped just as much to the point where they have to be a more attractive ride then a lot of other teams. It's better then the 47, 51, Rpm, has performed better then EGR. If Berrier stays, they have a solid crew chief.

when Kurt drove the 51, it was junk when he got it and was in the headlines when he left. Finch was and is a rich drunk and very unpredictable like drunks are, now he is gone, the slate is clean, only the number remains the same. If I was a young hotshot, I would be camped out of Scotts doorstep. Allgaier's first cup race was a disaster, Danica would be a better choice at this point.

Harry Scott said he already has his drivers in place for 2014-15, as well as a significant amount of sponsorship. He's ready to announce when the sponsors are according to a Bob Pockrass article.

Getting off topic my bad, but I couldn't let this B.S. go right here. Pockrass the source? And where in that article are the drivers named? Here is all I got out of that paper filler that was a direct quote. "Justin Allgaier will drive three of the final 10 races of 2013, and the driver (or drivers) for the other seven races will be announced in the next month."

At any rate. Furniture Row has some good things that a driver who goes to work will like. He has put together a good team for one car outfit. That to me is a much harder task out in Colorado to get good people. He is competitive, Kurt has proved that.

Poaching is a big part of this sport, I think that's part of the reason why Ganassi was so quick to bring Larson up. He didn't want his prized youngster getting offered a sweet deal.

So if I'm FRR that's what I'd do, go get myself a youngster with some real talent and lock him up long term. Yeah the performance may take a hit for the next couple years but in the long run it might pay off huge dividends. I think they run the risk of always being a stepping stone for drivers looking to showcase themselves, but not really interested in commiting to the FRR program long term.

yep, you can bet on the come, or go with a proven bet like he did with Kurt. I don't see any proven bets that are willing move.

I'm sorry but Kenny Wallace sucks, I'm flabbergasted as to how he was able to rack up 900 starts. On 900 occasions a NASCAR team owner thought it would be a good idea to have him drive the car? smdh!
