World of Outlaws 2019

It's fun to watch them on a bullring after starting the year on the longer half miles. They tear around that place.
 
When we were at Volusia for Speedweeks, I thought I noticed a small led type light inside the rear wheel on some of the sprint cars. Does anyone know what this was for? When I looked in the pits I couldn't see any.
 
i think it a new kind of bleed off valve,i saw them at turkey nite,but iam old.
 
Strong show so far tonight at Silver Dollar, feature will be good. Kahne qualified third overall and was leading his heat by a mile and then spun out all by himself. :cuckoo:
 
Tonight's track in Stockton was rough with a lot of ruts. The drivers had their hands full even more than usual. Logan Schuchart wins to become the sixth different winner in seven WoO races this year.

 
Their track prep people are the worst I've ever seen. Their idea of getting rid of the ruts is to rototill the ruts and make them even deeper. I guess nobody ever told them to fill in the ruts with the clay that they throw over the the edge of the turns, then repack the clay. That should be done after the heats, and before the main event. The promoter manages other tracks, but all of them are asphalt. This is his first try at managing a dirt track. If you notice in the video, the lights shine right into the camera (and your eyes) if you sit in the permanent grandstands. They took down the previous lighting poles that were next to the stands, but not in your line of sight. They were replaced with lights on the infield, which would have been okay, if they had left the original front straight lights as they were. It used to be a one mile horse track, (which is still intact) that they tried to make into a 3/8 mile dirt track. They tried to do it on the cheap, that's where they messed up. I have been suggesting they should put together at least two big shows a year, and run the full mile.
 
WoO handles the track prep for their events, and their crew is typically the best in the business. That doesn't mean they can work miracles if the surface isn't being well maintained regularly, which seems to be what you're suggesting. I'm not familiar with Stockton's normal operation or other factors that led to the track being that heavily rutted.
 
Yep, I couldn't believe that didn't end with a red flag and three of them upside down.
 
Interesting race tonight on a quickly deteriorating track. The bottom got quicker about a third of the way in, and David Gravel figured it out earlier and better than anyone else, then the bottom slowed down again toward the end. Several excellent battles. Gravel gets his first win in the Jason Johnson #41 car since Johnson's passing last year, great story for them.

Awesome feature...good to see that 41 upfront and would like to have seen that one in person. Is it written somewhere in the announcers handbook that they have to yell 3 wide, even when it is just for a split second and many times is not even 3 wide? It might be me, by I think that is even worse than Darrell's boogity boogity boogity. Probably because we only have to hear that once.

The USAC / CRA guys are a hell of a support class for this event. In fact, their heats were even better, and if I could only watch one...

Both features should be great.
 
Well darn, the track looked well prepped and racey all night, and then took rubber in the WoO main and was not great. Aaron Reutzel put it on them and ran away with it. Carson Macedo and Rico had a good battle for second, but it had become one lane and sliders weren't working. Oh well, that's the first WoO race of the year that wasn't a barnburner, not a bad average.
 
The CRA guys killed it. Particularly their final heat. It was nuggin futs. I'm definitely coming back to watch that series in the next couple months.

I was still happy with the winged show. Overall great night of racing.

I miss the days when it was the SCRA and they made a summer swing through the midwest. That's what originally sold me on non-winged sprints when I lived in Missouri. Still a great series under the USAC banner, and that track is their home track for a reason, they put on great shows there.

Yep. If Macedo and Abreu had been racing for the win rather than second, it would have been a minor classic. First half of the race was still pretty good through the pack. Once the track took a lot of rubber, the top became so much faster than the bottom. Reutzel had them more than covered.

Last night was the first time I'd seen them. Fell in love instantly.

Having to get completely out of the gas in corners results in better racing, go figure :D
 
Stockton has always been a horrible track for ruts. I was surprised they managed to not have too much of that in Vegas.
 


Good one tonight. Very racey for a rather narrow track. They were flying around this joint. Brad Sweet wins to become the ninth different winner in ten races. I doubt that has ever happened in WoO before. So many quality teams and drivers in the series currently. Though only 21 cars showed for this one, and that included one field filler hilariously named Gravy Fairfield. Kinda strange.

I noticed Aaron Reitzel won last time out and didnt make the drive out to Tuscon. I haven't seen Kahne entered in any of the west coast races.

Kasey was running in PA last week, he isnt running all Outlaws his schedule is on the kkr website.
 
Almost had another new winner with Haud leading the first half of the race, but Gravel was considerably better and his car working. Good battle between he and Sweet for several laps.

It's very early, but at this point it is hard to see anyone running away with the championship this year.
 
It's a crime they aren't going to Badlands Motor Speedway this season because of their track sale.
