That was my point in post #62 - Chastain stopped racing the track. It's easy for me to say from Ft. Living Room, but he probably should have yielded the lead instead of getting between the #98 and the lap-down #40. I realize he's young, running in the best equipment he's likely ever been in, leading, and hunting a playoff berth. It seems to me he lost sight of the bigger goal - demonstrate what he's capable of in good gear and attracting the attention of someone who can put him in a better seat on a full-time basis. Who know, maybe he was able to do that anyway. But he also lost sight of how much good 2nd or 3rd place would have done for his playoff qualifications.
But he had every right to race as he did, with no obligation to make room for Harvick. Learning to pick your battles is one reason guys run in a developmental series, even after they're running Cup. If Harvick is expecting inexperienced drivers to make experienced decisions, he's going to be disappointed regularly. I seem to recall some ill-advised choices on his part 16 or 17 years ago.
