So, should we reveal our pics each week before the race?

I would prefer we wait until after the race starts and everyone is locked in. That would avoid everyone, including me, running off to change sheet.

I came up with a strategy of my own, and I plan to kick some ass.

Before the race and while others are setting their roster? That wouldn't work too well. If I had a slight points advantage over you, and wanted to keep it that way, I would just mirror your picks each week.

Skimming thru the rules, I realize that I'm only picking a team for the first race of the season, and I'm free to pick an entirely new team each week. I have no idea how I got the impression I would be stuck with the same 8 all year and could only dump them after they were in for 9 races.

Other than the 9 starts rule, it's wide open each week, right up to qualifying (except the 500). Then, I get to choose 4 starters from the 8 team members. I can do this right up to the start of the race.

This seems like fun. I'm getting race buddy this year, and this game will add another dimension. I may end up with a team with a few guys I just can't root for, but I want to kick some ass in this league. What a quandry. ;)

It's more like, when they lose, you have somebody to bitch at for a week.

You don't get to see other people's picks though. So you can't do the mirror thing. Back to your idea board irishman.

Err...you repeated me and now you think you're a genius? There's too much grass in your life. * Pokes Moe in the eye * nyuck..nyuck.

What really hurts, is when you run a guy for a while, then bam you only have 2 more starts left for him, and he starts to heat up and go on a tear. That sucks.

Heck, I'm changing my picks right up until the deadline most weeks. After the picks are locked in @ the race deadline and can no longer be changed, your picks will be available to anyone that wants to look. It'll make more sense once the first week begins.

No, u said this.

Another time is when you decide @ the last minute to change a couple of your bench guys to starters and your new starters end the race behind the wall. That seems to happen all to often. In my case anyway.

Stop it with the poking thing. You might put somebodys eye out with that thing! o_O

you sound like me choosing lines at the check out. A last second change always results in a 10 min barrage of calls for "Manager to the checkout FB just switched to".

Or some dude that can't decide what credit card to use, right before he whips out his checkbook to pay, and then has to balance the entire book before leaving the checkout stand.

This is going to be a great season of "whoops I kicked Fenders Bumper."

I hit those people with my giant Salami.

Then they really gotta call the manager over. Right? OMG, Im going to watch the 1999 DAYTONA 500 on youtube. I will be back.

The b.s. meter is making me think we need to change the level of awareness from find a helmet to put on the damn helmet

Guys remember, you can make new picks for each race. Totally wipe the slate clean and start all over or keep who you've picked. Each race is separate. You will get an email each week telling you that you need to make picks before a certain date. After that date, the only change you can make is to swap your starters for the bench and you can change that time and time again until the race begins. If you try to make changes after the cutoff, it won't let you. Also note that if you pick a driver that isn't entered in a race, it will tell you that as well, but keep in mind that sometimes drivers don't make the race but will still be on the roster. Make sure you check who is there before you make those "C" picks.

Just to make it a bit more clear, let's say you want to pick Jr. and Jeffy for the "A" spot for Daytona. Once qualifying is complete, you will be stuck with those two, but can swap them anytime before the race starts. The driver you select for the starter will be available for points for 8 more races. The next race, you can pick to completely different drivers. The number of races left for a driver will be listed on your board so you can keep tabs on how many times you have picked a driver.

I've played this game many times thus I know how to play. However, knowing how to play and doing well are two different things. My team name is Basement Dwellers for a reason. :)

Good luck.

Let me know how the rear bumper on my car looks when all of yens are looking at it, if you can keep up. :growl:

Obviously if you are a Tony Stewart fan, you would want to have him as a pick for the last nine races of the year not the first nine races. Am I right?

Don't pick drivers because your a fan pick drivers for the particular track that week. plan your season in advance spreading the drivers you want to use for particular tracks out over the season. Don't forget the season in this game is ALL YEAR not just 26 races then The Chase Keep in mind NINE picks only for each driver for the WHOLE SEASON!

Here's how I do it;
First I catagorize the tracks and how many races there are of on each type ( very important to remember 9 )
Then I write down my priliminary picks for the ENTIRE season making sure I have a good balance from start to finish. I adjust this list as the season go's and drivers get hot, teams prove uncompetitive etc.

SuperSpeedway races, for Daytona I pick Drivers/Teams that have ran well in years past then in the following SuperSpeedway races I adjust for what I see moving on thru the season. I ALWAYS make sure to save Good drivers for the second races at both Talledega and Daytona. SS tracks are the hardest pick because their So Unpredictable but thats why I Love em!

Intermediate tracks, we all know who runs well at these tracks consistently but because there's so many intermediate tracks you have to be careful not to use up those drivers.

Fast Short tracks Richmond, Bristol and I consider Darlinton and Dover as FAST short tracks also.

Short tracks Martinsville and not so much Phoenix anymore, were running out of true short tracks :(

Fuel mileage tracks Michigan and California their like a game of craps who knows who'll gamble? I go with teams/brands that have good mileage records, FI may throw a rock into this though?

Road races Don't waste picks on RINGERS they Rarely perform and there's to many Good fulltime Cup drivers that can hustle a car left AND RIGHT anymore.

Thats all I'm giving up for now.

I'd like to add that I'm still PO'ed Atlanta only has one race now and inform you that if you Do Not Pick Tony for Atlanta I'll bust ya in the HEAD!
