I think that I may have scared people off in the first post. I didn't think people would be so easily intimidated. ;)

Yeh! Right! Intimidated! By who? A Pennsylvania clod hopper? You ever get to see past the back end of the horse while plowing?
Goll-leeeeee! Take the boy out of the country and put him near a race track, he picks a winner or two and suddenly he's gonna kick eveybodys' butt.

Watch out for the Racekar ma Weiners! Destined to finish......................last!:D

Wow, I don't even know how to respond to that! Pennsylvania clod hopper? I'm still looking that one up. Found it.....

1. A clumsy, coarse person; a bumpkin. 2. A big heavy shoe.

The second one definitely applies. I have big feet and do wear big heavy shoes. It's almost like you know me or have a window into my world.

See past the back end of the horse while plowing? Not an issue there..... I use my John Deere when I plow but I will ask my cousin if he's having problems. :D If I could have only blacked out one of those teeth, I would have.

Nice to have you aboard and good luck to ya. You're gonna need it!

23 and counting. Still room for more.

It's going to be fun and real challenging this year. I am excited to see the huge group, and hope everyone will stick to it. I think it would be neat to have 30 players. Going to be real interesting.

NO! NO! To me, the term "clod hopper" meant a farmer. No disrespect was intended, even in jest!

I'll bet your John Deere is bigger than mine. Every April, I truck my JD 332 from Raleigh, NC to Danville, PA to a Plow Day where last year, over 130 people showed up just to talk John Deere lawn and garden tractors and turn over some Pennsylvania dirt! Funny what some people and this old man find interesting isn't it? Even in a fantasy racing game! Just looking to show this guy isn't intimidated. Not one bit. So keep blowing your horn as every boat sinks and every train derails eventually. This might be your year to run outa steam. :D

GO Racekar-ma Weiners!

And we are now @ 26 and counting. Again, I don't know what the limit is on this. Maybe someone out there does but as long as positions are left I'll keep asking.

Not sure, but I think it's unlimited. Also, each team is compared to the nation groups as well so you might think your hot stuff in your group, but how do you stack up against the rest of the country. Now you can see why I call my team the Basement dwellers. We've no place to go but up! :)

Rules and Instructions | Fantasy Auto Racing Help Topics

I'm going to do my best to explain how this thing works. By all means, if I butcher this thing, someone else jump in and give the players a better explanation. For many of you this is the 'cutaway car' segment where I explain how brakes work..... :D

The drivers that you get to choose from are divided up into three separate pools. They are groups A, B & C. Group A being what Yahoo considers to be the best drivers. Group B the mediocre drivers and finally Group C, the bottom tier. These drivers will remain in the same groups for the entirety of the season.

Each week you select a total of eight drivers from these groups. Two 'A' drivers, Four 'B' drivers, & two 'C' drivers. The deadline to select these drivers is the day before qualifying. The only exception is Daytona because of their unique qualifying format. More on that later. Of the eight drivers that you choose four of them are active, or starters for the race. One A driver, two B drivers, and one C driver. The other four are your 'Bench' drivers. I'll base everything on the following example.....

6811189931_3c7813d2b3_z.jpg

The weekend starts off by awarding qualifying points. All eight of your drivers are eligible to collect qualifying points. They are awarded as follows..... 10 points for the pole, 5 for second, 3 for third, & 1 point for 4th. Points for qualifying are awarded normally an hour or so after qualifying is complete and can be viewed on the results screen. No points are awarded for qualifying if qualifying is rained out.

Only the drivers that are your 'starters' will collect actual race points. At any point before the deadline, normally up to ten minutes or so before the start of the race, you can swap your bench drivers with the starters.

That's a basic description of how to play.

Things to keep in mind.....
  • You may only collect race points off of a driver a total of nine times during the season. Once a driver has collected race points for the ninth time during the season you are no longer able to select that driver for the remainder of the season.
  • If you forget to make your picks before the deadline, your picks from the previous week will become your picks for the current week. You can still move your 'Starters' and 'Bench' drivers back and forth up until the race deadline. In other words..... If you miss your picks on a given week, it's not a big deal. You will still collect points.
  • No other players in our group can see your picks until the race begins.
  • Daytona - Because of the unique qualifying format, no qualifying points are awarded.
  • Only the points paying races are part of this game.
  • Did I say that you are only able to collect race points for a given driver nine times before they are ineligible? I cannot stress that enough. It will become more apparent as the season progresses.

A typical week playing Yahoo Fantasy Racing for me.....

  • I pick my eight drivers some time before the qualifying deadline. This is normally the day before qualifying.
  • After qualifying but before the race deadline I sometimes swap out my bench drivers with the starters if I feel that they are not going to do well in the race.
  • I then sit back, watch the race and hope that my picks survive the day!

If you are confused by my description of the game please IM me or post a question on this thread.

You can also do some research on the race and drivers each week and note the percentage of people who pick a certain driver. The driver's stats are also on the page where you pick them. After the race, you can then go back and see who picked who for the race. Kind of gives you an idea where a certain player is going. There is also a place for trash talk if you do desire. :)

That's it I'm protesting the both of ya, FF and DP report to teardown

I played in one of these last year on another site. I was doing really well.........till the chase started.

I pulled a Kyle you could say.

Wow, it's really starting to get pretty deep in here. Pretty soon I'll have to get out my boots. I just bought these shoes. :p

All In Fun

I Usually Don't Do Very Well I Guess I Pick For The Heart To Much

You guys keep talking. I will keep sawing on the brake lines of the drivers that I don't have in my brackets. ;)

What happens after you've used a driver 9 times in your starting lineup? Can you replace him with anyone you want?

Like fastfordfan said, you can replace him with any driver within the same group pool. A drivers for A, B for B, C for C.

Being an Avid Fisherman I have a pair of Chest Waders ready and waiting!

I have a feeling that you do not want to pack those things away. In fact, I'd keep them within an arms reach.

Only From A B Or C

So you're not stuck with a bench warmer for the rest of the season. That's good. With so much mixed up this season, there should be some B list and C list drivers putting up A list numbers. That makes for some pretty deep strategy in picking a team, and then a starting lineup.

This seems like fun. I'm getting race buddy this year, and this game will add another dimension. I may end up with a team with a few guys I just can't root for, but I want to kick some ass in this league. What a quandry. ;)
