Matt Kenseth

Ok...I'll give you the fan part, that's cool, but really Roush is beyond saving at this point. They had their glory years with Mark Martin, their star is abut to flame out.
That may turn out to be the case. Fail or succeed, I lose nothing either way. Kenseth doesn't either; after all, what does a washed up has-been have to lose?

He's not the savior most of you think he is.
I’m just saying one guy walking in the door isn’t going to gain the entire operation an extra 3-5mph average on their cup program. I’m surprised at how many think roush is going to jump back to the top of the running order.

I’m pretty sure Kenseth thought his chances to compete were better “elsewhere” when he chose to leave after 2012... aka roush was starting to show signs of decline... he still competed but it was obvious the 2005-2008 roush performance had left the building... even with Kenseth on board. Now he most likely helped them a lot... when he left the team declined further... but it’s unfair to put it on Matt to pick them back up again.

I think Matt Kenseth is a starting point for what they HOPE for... honestly I’d rather Trevor get to be racing even if he’s not done well. Just the way it is. Speed wise I don’t see the 6 really doing much with a different cat in the seat so far.

I was excited to see him come back just because I missed seeing him on the track. I don't expect him work any kind
of miracle. If he can help, great.
For me personally, its because I've always been a fan. Some people just aren't happy unless they're unhappy...
Because I'm hoping he can breathe some life back into the organization. Plus I'm a fan. :)

D - ALL THE ABOVE :) I am glad he is back because I like to watch his racing style, steady trying to get to the front while keeping the car under him and out of harms way, plus he is not a braggart.

Have to see a larger sample, but didn't run that great

When you have 1 car running OK like the #17 and one is junk (#6) then you know the problem is the car. If they don't listen to Matt then RFR MUST change the CC and the Car Chief. I sure would like to see if Matt can jump into the #17 and have any speed. One thing I remember from day 1 in his cup career, Matt never qualified well but ALWAYS raced very good.
I would love to see his stats for qualifying/finishing the year he won his championship.

So... if they even have Trevor get back in HIS car this season, what’s truly the motivation now? Just do well to keep the job?

I mean if he were to end up in a position to grab a surprise win he doesn’t get to make playoff field...

How many races is Matt running besides this chunk he’s doing the next couple weeks? Is he running later in the summer and fall?

Hated to see Matt get caught up in that serious wreck late in the race. Unfortunately, he was not even doing too well leading up to that point. There is a lot of work to be done with the No. 6 team.

There is a reason, but I suppose it is not quite what you are thinking of right now. Certainly had little, if anything, to do with performance.
I will let someone else explain it to you if you really want to go back to what went down last year. ;)
I don't need an explanation of the obvious, he's overrated, he wanted too much money and he is where he is for a reason. But thanks for your concern.

He is anything but overrated and the ONLY reason he doesnt have a ride is Gibbs had to make a move with Jones, that and Sponsorship is ultimately why he got shuffled out. He is better then a large portion of the field.

Yeh sure...if he was worth it a major team would of signed him...he's washed up dude, a has been.

To say Kenseth is washed up even after winning last year and then you totally avoid the question on who could have taken him and had sponsorship just shows how disingenuous you are.
I'll say again. ..if he was such a great driver why didn't a major team pick him up? The excuse parade continues.

Who knows?

Sponsorship struggles and how much money did Kenseth want in terms of a renewed contract? The easiest thing to do is to let him go and Matt wanted to stay with a competitive organisation.:idunno:

Made my point

No, your pointing to Matt's greatness as a driver, which he is. You are talking about ability, not finances or anything else that goes along with it.

Sponsors are not easy to come by like at all. Hell, it might be hard for Jimmie to get a sponsor and he might be out. Also, his much is JGR asking for? Its not simple with all the details.

Its not like Kenseth was bad last year at all.

Bullsh*t. ...when you are a so called elite driver like Kennseth sponsors shouldn't matter.

Bullshiit. ...when you are a so called elite driver like Kennseth sponsors shouldn't matter.

JGR had found more with DeWalt and Circle K, but it was not enough to fill what DG had. Got to find a fit in the market, but Roush has done something with Wyndam Rewards. Its a start, but sponsors are everything now in days. You got to have money or you will get passed over, most of the time.

I guess Jimmie Johnson will be in the same boat because of Lowe's leaving. So, you will say JJ is not elite of he doesn't come back without a sponsor?o_O
