Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Anyone know if the Xfinity Cars or the Trucks will get the digital dash, or is that just for Monster Energy Cup Cars only?

I would have thought a major house like Mecum would routinely insist on authenticity documentation.

I don't guess I ever thought about this, or paid that close attention:

The teams leave the pit boxes every week. Too big for the haulers. A company comes and loads them into trucks and takes them to the next race.

it’s a company that does logistics like this. They park their haulers at the track and then bring them to pit road after the race. Dudes on ATVs zip up and down pit road with the pit boxes attached to the back and load them into the trucks.

I think HMS has gotten a little to comfortable at the shop and are in a bit of a rut when it comes to production of new cars and are just doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
One car I think is putting in the work and the reason is they have a new driver of quality and that is #1 Kurt Bush. His input and the fact they can trust what he says could be the reason he is the #1 Chevy on the track. Even RCR is as good as HMS right now. I also think RFR is getting better with R Newman's input.
 
SHR is not far off with their setups, I think their drivers need to make some adjustments in their expectation. The #14 may do better when they move Cole up.

I think as a partial owner he is frustrated that Suarez is driving for the team when he feels there are other more qualified drivers. I remember Tony wasn't exactly thrilled when they brought in Kurt Busch either.
 
Tony's point has been lost amongst his usual Tony hyperbole, and that is that it's much harder to relate to and appreciate a driver who's been advantaged their entire life and had their career path effectively mapped out and scheduled for them. Joe NASCAR has more in common with the Brad Keselowski or Ryan Preece types in the world. Contrast that to a lot of guys who became heroes in the 80's and 90's and I think you'll see where he's coming from.

There’s hundreds of thousands of race-car drivers across the country that have clawed and scratched their way at Saturday night short tracks, and worked on their cars all their life to get where they are. Then you get kids with rich fathers and deep pockets that put them in race cars.

I think there are drivers out there with the experience and personality that makes race fans want to follow them. That’s what’s lacking in NASCAR.

Of course, in a lot of ways pay drivers are actually good, but too heavy of a balance of them and drivers who've always had a plan as described above is not. From Xfinity on down through K&N there are a good number of those types of drivers. And really, it even starts at the home track level now.

Yep. And that Go Daddy money paid for an additional team that did not exist previously... the #10 team. Having Danica Patrick in the 10 did not rob someone else of an opportunity to race. Quite the opposite, as Aric Almirola slotted into that ride and has performed at a high level. It can be said that Aric's ride is the legacy of the Go Daddy sponsorship.

(That doesn't change the fact that Tony Stewart is prone to hypocrisy at times.)
 
It is always good to figure out what Tony isn't saying most of the time. I don't think anybody would say Tony doesn't have a "personality"...like a hand gernade

Gene has said that with the charter system it makes more sense to stay at four cars rather than to contract, and obviously that #10 car was chartered automatically when the system debuted - so it seems to have paid dividends for SHR for sure.
 
Here is a guy that has no business driving a cup car

Fort Kent native Austin Theriault said Tuesday he is close to finalizing a deal that would enable him to make his debut in a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race this season or next year.

Theriault has been working closely with Old Orchard Beach native Archie St. Hilaire, owner of the Go FAS Racing Monster Energy Cup No. 32 Ford Mustang, to put together a two- or three-race deal.
