Silly Season 2020

If I’m SHR I’m launching whoever doesn’t make the playoffs betweenbBowyer and Saurez...then making calls to Larson, Bell or Buescher to see what the deal is on their contracts. It’s unreal that only Harvick is top 10 in points for SHR

My vote is get rid of Bowyer which I hate to say that because he is an old school racer but he just isn't producing. Looking ahead there are several younger drivers I think should be in that 14 car. Eric Jones is a wheel man he'd be a great driver to have. I don't think JGR wants to see that happen though. I've said Matt Dibenedetto would be a good driver for SHR. I like what Chris Buescher has been doing this year he's been getting a lot out of the car he has. Of those guys Jones probably has the most potential but you never really know what some of these guys in lesser equipment can do in good equipment. Jones is in good equipment now and I remember Kevin Harvick commenting how when he was at FRR the year Truex won his championship Jones was probably in some of the best equipment he'd ever be in. He didn't get a win that year but I remember seeing him wheeling the #77 hard at the Bristol night race.

Harvick and Childers have both said they went the wrong direction with car development during the off season. That make a big difference and they have only got better recently. They have to get tons better before Boyer and Suarez and Almirola start winning races. They make plenty of mistakes of their own making. Ol Denny has caught fire when the talk of Bell coming to the team and he or Jones might be getting the knife.

DiBenedetto has been doing a good job of promoting himself and advertising that he's likely losing his ride, whether it happens or not, he's got the corporate image enough for a big team and driving chops to go with it. Buescher seems comfortable and devoted to the 37, but I wouldn't blame him for wanting to upgrade either.

nah just wishing this or that to happen. The hard part happens getting everything lined up behind closed doors

If Childress and Leavine field additional cars for Reddick/Jones next year, who would they get the charters from?
I don't think anyone can afford fielding a full-time car without a charter.

LFR might happen because of Toyota.

I see no chance in hell how RCR would be able to fund a third car.

From whomever had one for sale ...

These things represent economic advantage and opportunity that was not available to car owners in the past.
Equity realized rather than squandered at 25 cents on the dollar.

I’ll pass your final comment on to Rick Ware.

The Dumpster. There's really more supply than demand when it comes to charters. I imagine there's a few lower tier teams that would be very interested in selling

Some teams have to perform or they will have to sell them. Some will have to sell if they don't field a car. Roush selling one of his comes to mind for Buescher I believe it was.

Charter owners may transfer their Charter to another team, for one full season, once over the first five years of the agreement.
Charter teams are held to a minimum performance standard. If a Charter team finishes in the bottom three of the owner standings among all 36 Charter teams for three consecutive years, NASCAR has a right to remove the charter.

And to prevent that they keep moving charters around so the same bottom team never keeps it more than 2 years.

Whatever ... it looks easy to manipulate if you’re a powerful member of the RTA.

They fielded 3 Cup cars and 5 Xfinity cars in 2017, I guess Menard's departure really hurt RCR financially.
Carl Long said he would have to pay $3 million for a charter which he obviuosly doesn't have.
The #51 Ware car is using a charter which is officially owned by Petty Motorsports. This one could be used for a third RCR car. And since Spire Motorsports apparently doesn't have any ambition to improve the team, they're probably just keeping it warm for another team like LFR.
Unfortunately NASCAR doesn't publish any information about purse money anymore so we don't know how much more purse money chartered teams get.

The sad reality is that start-and-park teams are the most profitable in NASCAR at the moment

I'm nit-picking, but there's no S&P's anymore, even the Rick Ware sh!t boxes have to run most/all the distance.

...unless your talking NXS & Trucks.
Curious, does NASCAR still have the minimum speed rule and enforce it if they do?

They told one of the back marker teams to pick it up or park it at Michigan. Cant remember which team it was. They came in and worked on the car and went back out.

Hot off the press rumor. Will this be the landing spot for Christopher Bell or Erik Jones after he’s told he’s family??

of course reddit is swearing Matt D has options, i dont think he will go lower, maybe lateral move?

At this point, if Matt is offered a top Xfinity ride he should jump on it. Might be why he’s running the JGR 18 at Road America.

A lot easier to sell himself there than settling for a lower mid pack Cup ride like Front Row.

Reddit and Twitter melting down as if 90’s Jeff Gordon got fired from the 24. It’s Matt Freaking Dibenedetto...like who cares. If The Preacher can keep either Jones or Bell two stud prospects in his camp and this is the way to do it...you make this move 100 times out of 100. No one is going to be upset over it except the teenagers and early 20’s fans who kneel at the altar of the DiBurrito. Give me a break...if true this is a good move for Preacher Joe/JGR//TRD

Of course it is a good move, but I can see the other side of it as well. DiBenedetto has proven that he is a pretty good driver, if not an unknown quantity, with some really great results cropping up as of late at the JGR B-Team. It would be nice to see what he could do if he were to be given a lifesaver further up closer to the top of the grid, rather than regressing back into backmarker territory with unseen and unused potential.

Ironic humor would be Bell going over there and running top 5's for LFR and Matt running in the 20's and listening to the Reddit's make up excuses.
If Bell is over there you can guarantee it won't be the same level of equipment that Matt is running

If Bell goes cup next season does he keep his current CC?

Depends on how Gibbs wants to handle it. If we can now presume it’s the 95, they could keep Wheeler there - the car has been pretty good. Or they go with the known-chemistry with Ratcliffe. Management will have to decide.
