2021 Silly Season

so are fans apart of Silly Season 21, as in if they will be in attendance next year?
Snappy, I for one appreciate your attempt to keep the Silly Season thread on topic. But you've been here long enough to know that, for certain individuals, attendance issues belong in *every* dang thread in the Nascar forum.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...:flushed:

I should know better.......

Tell that to the person who shells out hundreds of dollars so they can sit on hot aluminum seats in the afternoon sun. You guys keep saying that fans in the stands matter, then go about proving my point that they really don't. In another thread here, it was suggested that it might make more sense economically to eliminate in person attendance altogether. They MAY have a point.
I cant tell anyone anything because we didnt have attendance at Indy so I dont know how many would have showed up or stayed home compared to previous races. If Indy started at 1 you wouldnt be sitting in the afternoon sun? lol. BTW, didnt you say turn 1 gets pretty shady late afternoon so the later races risk drivers not being able to see? lol part 2

So... just reading through the generic nascar.com silly season reports ‘driver by driver’... all stuff that everyone here already knows...

But the slight idea of ‘William Byron moving to 48’... can anyone see that actually being a realistic play? ...or is that just journalists covering ALL possibilities?

that move seems a little odd on the surface... I guess sponsors would be the ones who would pull for that option?

I can't think of a reason why anyone at HMS would care what number car Byron drove so I agree with you that it would probably have to be something sponsor driven.

Byron was given Jeff Gordon’s seat.

When he gets out of it, he won’t be going to the 48.

and I was having a hard time grasping some who think Bowman is moving out of the 88 to the 48? I'll believe it when I see it. Just move the sponsor wrap to the 88's stall in the garage seem to make more sense to me. It's not like there will be a bunch of tattoo changing going on. :idunno:

I was leaving a little for for doubt as to Larson returning to Cup next year... just in the ‘odd’ occurrence that he enjoyed himself more on dirt like he’s doing now...

but him confirming that he’s ready to be back... is enough for me to go ahead and shoehorn him into one of the possible open seats next year... I’d say this is how Bowyer exits the 14...
Funny how the people on Reddit can't accept that he will be back next year in the 14.

From my few visits there, the people on Reddit make this joint look like the Harvard honor society.
I really want to get off, but there's been good content on there. The last few months it seems like it's been a hive mind.

I go there all of the time, but I skip a lot of it and really don't read to many of the comments to have much of an opinion. They get a lot of the breaking news stories. My guess is that it some of it gets dropped there because the membership is so large.

The only thing is who's the odd man out? Clint? He's at least bring sponsorship dollars.

Would Ford give this its blessing? Have to remember Chevy dropped him as well so he'd have to get manufacturer support

With TIME all things are forgiven.

So if Larson goes to the 14, where does that leave Briscoe? Would he stick with Ford?

I know a lot of people are high on Larson, however in 3 yrs I haven't seen him progress
to the point where he is a constant threat to win. Sure he has high light moments BUT to me it seems as if he wants a Nascar to perform like his open wheel cars do. I doubt he can truly adapt to being a championship caliber type of driver.

Maybe this will help

Only 10 drivers have won multiple Cup races before their 25th birthday. 6 of them are champions and Hall of Famers. The other 4? Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, and Erik Jones.

That's an interesting stat but it doesn't account for drivers getting Cup rides at earlier ages today than they used to. Time was you couldn't get a Cup ride at 25. I'm not knocking these guys, but a stat on drivers with multiple wins in their first three seasons might have leveled the field more between driver eras.

The article agrees with you. It's a very small bunch, very small, 25-35 years old are where most drivers do the best. I posted that so Team Penske who thinks apparently that Larson isn't that good and hasn't been progressing? Larson has 6 wins before 25 years old. Not saying he is the next world champion, but he's a damn good race car driver.

Article? Did you intend to include a link in your previous post?

I think the multiple winners under 25 is a good conversation starter but it means nothing without a deeper look. Kyle Larson needs to exhibit more consistency and learn how to close the deal in order to take the next step.

I'll pass that on to his WOO, ASCOC, Posse and other competitors.

In order for the young man to exhibit anything further in NASCAR competition, Kyle Larson needs to clearly demonstrate in thought, word and deed that he is not a racist.

Probably won't do Nascar's deal until the money and team is right. I was always taught to try to deal from a position of strength. Larson has a full time job. Personally, I think he is a hell of a lot more fun to watch on dirt than in Nascar

Hey! you are stealing my lines now bro. I have been saying that for like...ever. :)

If he can make a living doing what he really likes he should do it. If he needs the money or feels he wants to return to NASCAR he can get in full grovel mode and jump through the hoops. I hope he stays right where he is at.

That as the point I was trying to make. I didn't say he wasn't a good driver, BUT IMO he is driving a Nascar the way he would a dirt car.

Cole Custer is on the clock.

With all due respect, is Kurt Busch a threat to win every week? Matt Kenseth? I think Larson got a lot out of average equipment. CGR isn't exactly a championship organization at the moment.

I understand that. But at the same time, I would expect the driver to get the best he can with what he has to work with. Hail Mary moves are not going to get the job done.
I realize that Larson a times got more speed from his car because of his driving style, but at the same time you can't drive the whole race like that. In to many cases Larson got worse finishes because he was driving over the cars limits for to long.
