'21 Generation 7 Car news

The trucks are all powered by Chevrolet, at least that's what Moody said earlier in the year to one of his listeners that indicated he didn't like it. Moody blasted him saying it wasn't a big deal since it wasn't anything you could see.

Complete BS to me. What the hell can a MFG take pride in if NOTHING about the car is Chevy/Yoda/Ford? Completely cheapened the truck series to me.
considering this thread is supposed to be about the Next Gen car, I don't know if I use B.S. or complete B.S. :idunno:

This looks like the start of testing multi cars on the track to see how they are affected by aero forces. I believe I read that Nascar was going to build a small fleet of test cars to see how they react in traffic. Charlotte with a road course and and a 1.5 in the same place is pretty handy.

So what's the problem now? Someone mentioned spec engines at Nascars upper division, I responded, now what? Did I commit some crime going there?
There's a lot of stuff down at the lower levels that isn't likely to find its way to Cup. Spec engines are one of those things. Unlike the Trucks, there's too much brand equity involved.

I think using tapered spacers is a great idea. They could be used as Frisbees during rain delays, or a stack of them in Larson's seat would get him where he might actually see how close he is to the wall.
Between Reddick and Larson, kerb feelers might be a necessary evil.

Excuse me, I mean wall feelers.

People get all enamored by those rim rider guys, but how often do they actually WIN versus how often they hit the wall? Having composite bodies in Cup MIGHT swing the ratio a lit bit more their way though in all honesty.

watching the Xfinity races the last couple of years they can take some punishment compared to Cup cars.

Doesn't sound like an IMSA car to me..could be the driving style or having more cubic inches and push rods

Which is to me, a bit curious. Because on the showroom, I cannot think of a vehicle segment more defined by brand loyalty than pickup trucks. It is currently a game of one upsmanship year after year in the truck market that was reminiscent of the muscle car era of the 60's and 70's. Performance and prices reflect that.

Did they get rid of the boom tubes?

Looks like a late model and a GTLM had a baby. Will be interesting

The budgets in the Truck Series just won't support a regular engine program for anybody but the MOST well funded. I don't like, but it is what it is. I am still of the opinion that each manufacturer could have a spec engine and then the suppliers could have a system to have them all BoP ed to the same basic performance curve. Yes, it would probably raise costs SOME, but if the same engine was used across several series, that could offset some of that.

I wonder if the test helped make up his mind on if wants to stick around for '22

I said months ago that the next gen bodies we are seeing now are just placeholders until the manufactures develop their own and got dragged for it here.

Well well well. I dont mean to say I told you so but....

I believe I know I said they aren't going to be MUCH different than what they are testing. IDK what everybody else said. So we'll see on my end.

I don't recall anyone disputing that. The debate was over how significant the differences would be from the placeholder design and between manufacturers, and thus how useful the test data is.

I really like how they flat sided the rockers and fixed the tire cutter exhausts. Looks like there is a lot of tire clearance both ways height and width. There is something going on behind the front tire

I wasn't sure i'd like the sequential gearbox, i haven't seen an interior shot. But I think that the 6 speed gearbox with lower horsepower will make for better racing overall. Definitely sounds better with the divided exhaust.

It could likely mean shifting at more tracks too, Pocono, Indy, Martinsville, and Phoenix off the top of my head.

Can you still get kerb feelers? I thought those went out with boomerang antennas, vinyl roofs, and a chrome bimbo hood ornament with glow-in-the-dark wings.

EDIT: Can I still say 'Pimpmobile' or will that get me stoned in the Court of Social Justice?
