'21 Generation 7 Car news

Here is a close facsimile of how it has to work. Me no like. Makes any pit road service impossible.

Found it!

My experience with pulling master cylinders was quite iffy. Many years ago and questionable quality of those parts thou. Actually used for clutch in both situations. One on Datsun 4WD conversion (Jeep Axles/transfer case/Buick V-6) other on ATK 260 DirtBike with Rotax engine. While both worked, took constant attention to keep them working.

Floor mounted MC always cause issues getting & keeping it bled.
Always and never ... two of my favorites.

The system is pressurized by use of a bleeding device that attaches directly to the top of the fluid reservoir for that cylinder ... usually mounted on the firewall.

No mo “Pump it up and hold it”.

When the driver has to get out so you can work on the car, you’re probably not on pit road.

I own a pressure bleeder. Very familiar with that process. Remote reservoirs normally can't handle as much pressure for bleeding purposes. I'm sure these guys will figure it out thou. And last statement is exactly why I don't like this set-up. REQUIRES driver get out for most service.

AP figured it out for them.

They supply threaded caps that screw onto AP reservoirs. The caps include a hose that attaches to the bleeder. No leaks / more than enough pressure to get the job done. More of that NOT NEW TECHNOLOGY stuff.

I've just assumed they'd use the next gen for everything in '22.
I remember hearing about possibly using the Gen-6 cars for Bristol Dirt and the Clash.

Things change all the time though, also it makes more sense to just use the NextGen for everything.

@KTMLew01 yeah it makes sense to keep the testing local in this case. If I hear anything about the possible dirt test, I'll see if I can get out a bit earlier to see it.

It makes no sense (to me) to require teams to keep two old cars around after November, esp lower tier teams with limited budgets or organizations like 23XI adding a new team.

I hear they are looking into how to adapt the old cup cars into Xfinity cars. I don't know how many old cars there are but I wouldn't think it would be a huge amount, they have known for a couple of years of the switch.

what is crazy is teams only have one complete car for 4 drivers.not one each, just one car and not enough parts to finish a second one, i hope they are keeping alot of the old cars.

Rub blocks, probably going to be hearing a lot more about them.

Even better news is that it seems like Advent Health is following Chastain to Trackhouse.

Rumors are Clover, Moose, and even McDonalds will supposedly follow Chastain to his new home. Wonderful news, if true.

Back to regularly scheduled programming of NextGen.

I think you missed the whole message of the tweet (it's info specifically about the new car) but that is ok.

Chastain explains something that many were concerned about and that was the car has spun out and was harder to catch when it was being tested. The car doesn't have the flat billboard sides on the rear anymore for them to lean on. That should please many fans that want to make the cars harder to drive.

6 rub blocks under the car instead of just the splitter that penalize too low car setups.
