Hate to say I told you so.........

Doesnt change the fact that they arent getting them tight and 1 lug will tell on you.

Which is a problem, the only real problem I have seen with this car. Regardless of the reason behind it, there is a problem with wheels coming off of this car. It is happening much more often than previous generations. I'm sure they will get the problem fixed but right now it is an issue that they didn't have with the previous car.

It could be a flaw or more than likely some guys still arent running it tight. If it was a flaw, you would see multiple failures at every race and not 4 instances after 1,039 laps of competition.

Were there even rumors of this during the testing sessions (when guys have plenty of time to tighten the lug)?

The problem is, when you don't get it it tight, you don't KNOW you didn't get it tight in most cases. How many laps did the 7 run after the pit stop, only to have the wheel come off with no warning? It's hard to fix a problem when you don't even know you have one. I'm not saying it will happen every week, but it WILL happen several more times this year, and it;s only a mater of time before somebody punts one off to who knows where.

I don't think any of them have made it a lap after leaving the pit stall

I have a question about the 7 car lost wheel, I missed it live but in the replays it looks like perhaps he hit the wall and broke the rim, is that what happened? The tire that I saw rolling looked like just the tire, no rim.

so,i think they should drill the alignment pins though the wheels so the crew can see that the wheel is all the way on

Why don't the other series have as many of these issues? IndyCar & IMSA been using these for many years.
They DO sometimes, but you have to remember most of the time you have half as many cars going less than half as many laps, making half as many pit stops. Graham Rahal lost a wheel in the Indy 500 last year. Someone lost a wheel at the Rolex 24 this year. It does happen.

Does seem to be more often this year. Not every race but I don’t remember so many coming off in years prior?

If the only issue is a human error issue of not getting the lug nut on tight enough. Then I would consider this car a massive success. Probably the biggest success in NASCAR history.

You arent right. We dont have multiple tires coming off during a race. There isnt a mechanical issue its an installation error.
Did I EVER say we would have multiple wheels coming off each race? I said it would happen. I said it would likely happen less often as the season went on, but that it would still happen, and so far it has. We went from statistically zero for as many years as you care to go back, to now five times in six races. You can pass it off on human error, you you are not wrong, but thst doesn’t change the fact that we went from a system that was 99.9% foolproof when the tire changers weren’t fudging, and STILL gave you lengthy warning before disaster ensued to a system that is anybody’s guess if and when the wheels will fall off without warning. I would bet every one of those five tire changers would swear on a stack of bibles that he had the nut tight, yet they came off. Nobody even wants to address the fact that the 7 car went 16-17 laps at Phoenix only to lose a wheel with ZERO warning. Let’s just be honest and admit that this system was implemented for several dubious reasons, and none were particularly worth the hassle.

every week bud there were numerous fines for loose lug nuts, loss of crew members was commonplace, many times during the race cars were having to come back into the pits because of loose wheels. All that has been eliminated and improved.

Imagine your sole purpose for watching a race is to see a tire come off so you can rush over here and beat your chest that " you were right"

To piggy back off your point it feels like some around here hate watch the sport...which seems like a tremendous waste of time on a Sunday Afternoon

What have we fixed? 75% of what we had before was from tire changers trying to beat the system. The teams paid a price by having to pit again, or get getting penalized after the race. NOW, there is zero reason to purposely leave anything loose, but it is STILL happening, and instead of an extra pit stop or a penalty, we have wrecked race cars and 50 LB projectiles bouncing down the track. If that is an improvement to you, then obviously our definition of the word and mine is different. This is NASCAR doing what NASCAR does. Take something that isn't broken, and fixing it until it is.

well you might not be wrong but the only thing I'd say is that what if these teams are still trying to figure out this car? We're not even 2 months into the season yet, I'll bet you by the Coca Cola 600 there wont be any wheels coming off cars. These guys are good, they'll find a way. and I also think you're sounding the alarm to something while I'll give you its serious, isnt the worst thing that can happen within a race each week. I feel like you're rushing to judgement or panicking quickly, give these guys and gals a chance to figure it out.

How would you have ANY clue as to what my purpose was for watching races was, or what enjoyment I may derive from it? I'm sorry if my interest in a race goes far beyond it's entertainment factor alone. As I have stated MANY times before, I'm as much interested in the business of racing and the nuts and bolts of the operation as I am watching cars going around in a circle. I look at a race today pretty much the same way I did when I was standing on a pit wall.

All I did to start with was point out that I STRONGLY disagreed with the decision to go to the single lug wheels, because I have a deep love and appreciation of the tradional NASCAR style pit stop, and the skill involved. Then I pointed out that just as there is in other forms of racing, there WOULD be wheels coming off from time to time, which is exactly what NASCAR CLAIMED they were trying to prevent. Had I not been strongly criticized and ridiculed for stating what was painfully obvious to me, I probably would have said little to nothing more about it, especially since I have basically stopped participating in this sesspool of a forum. But, since there are three or four people around here that think they are the absolute last word expert on EVERYTHING racing, I couldn't help but throw a little shade this way. I guess that makes me a bad person. As far as the wheels, I would contend there is nothing TO figure out. Sometimes you think you do everything exactly right, and sometimes the wheels STILL come off. Hell, back in the 1960's when they used knock-offs tightened up with a hammer, wheels came off from time to time too. It's the nature of the beast. In my opinion, the only REAL reasons this change was made was to reduce the skills needed to go over the wall, thus saving the team owners money on tire changers, and probably because NASCAR got sick and tired of hearing how hick it was to still use five lugnuts.

Where has Nascar said that? :idunno:

I apologize but this GIF

is the only thing I can take away from your soliloquy .

The only advice I can give which you can choose to ignore is that if you have a beef with certain posters just call them out. I have a feeling I know who it is but the passive aggressive nature you display might be a contributing factor to what you deem a "cesspool of a forum." Its unfortunate you feel this way as they are some really cool and good people here. I sincerely hope you find the ignore button feature and continue to post here, I for one while I do give you a hard time sometimes and needle you (ive done this to other posters and they've done it back to me. Its the internet, dont take this $hit seriously!), I enjoy your insight whether I disagree or not.

I kinda like the passive aggressive Jack myself with a bit of victim thrown in. :idunno:

seems like we get the best of both worlds when The Jackman posts. Poor fella, I mean if this place is seriously as bad as he says why does he continue to post here? Why do something that brings you anger, sadness and overall a miserable mood? I gotta stop trying to figure people out....and EDIT: I have to stop coming here on lunch lmao seems I always step into it when Im about to eat and come on here.
