nascar ended up with a corrupt race

Buddy, we've been here before.

Like I said, your trolling needs a hell of alot more work if you think I'm going to take that sorry bait that Gordon felt from 14th all on his own and that he wrecks the most drivers in the field. :D

This is the problem. I say Gordon bumps people, and you hear "Gordon wrecks people".

Sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about. Go watch the end of the Martinsville race again.

Bowyer drove like a douche all year and Gordon finally decided to take him out. Right or wrong, all you 24 haters need to get over it.

On restart, Gordon fails to get going on those old tires, and Bowyer is fully under his car when Gordon turns down.
At 1 minute mark, Jeff turns left and intentionally puts Bowyer in the wall.

3:07 mark. Gordon lined up in 3rd, right behind the race leader Ryan Newman.

JJ pits, Gordon doesn't. Gordon finishes outside the top 10.

NASCAR has called a news conference at 8:15 p.m.

and still no official race results. I sure hope nascar doesn't screw this up even worse.
I hope they don't consider the asinine idea of taking Bowyer and Truex out of the Chase and inserting Gordon and Newman. If you think NASCAR looks bad now, can you imagine what it would look like if the sanctioning body started hand picking who should and shouldn't be in the Chase?

As I stated in a previous post, I think a 25pt. penalty and a six-figure fine would probably be suitable.

I don't recall it ever happening. I think they just may knock BOTH MWR drivers out of the chase.
Not sure that they should do that to Truex. He was just running his race. I can certainly see a record monetary and points fine though. Probably record $'s to the MWR organization, crew chief for CB & driver and owner points for CB's #15.

Here's an interesting take on the timing of the presser..

@2Spotter nada. Why they are doing it late and in the middle of MNF. Trying to bury the story.

I think they held the official race results for a reason. If both are disqualified from the race, does Bowyer still make it in?

Win,win for Truex. He gets in either way.

This news is all over the place. I don't think that they're trying to bury it. I think they are trying to get the word out and fast. That's the only reason we aren't waiting until tomorrow.

I don't think the race results are official most weeks until Tuesday. I think that's normally when the race reports are released.

I don't' think they could knock them out without repairing the losses suffered by the teams that were eliminated from The Chase as a result of Bowyer's spin. I do think that a serious fine and point deduction could send a strong message to any teams thinking about similar actions in the future.

From what I remember, if Bowyer and Truex were somehow eliminated from the chase, Jeff and Newman would get in.

I wonder what would have happened if Martin was still in the 55. Can you imagine what is being said in today's meeting at MWR?

Hold on to your pants because we're going to ge hammered in the next ten weeks?

Hmm...
That wouldn't bother me any. I already like the standings as they are; Newman and Gordon getting in wouldn't affect the drivers that I follow. The only way that this will be positive controversy is if NASCAR hammers MWR.

Maybe reset the field to the caution caused by the spin, If they did that it would be fun on here for quite a while. :D

The NASCAR channel on SiriusXM usually airs press conferences as well, so that may be another option.

SiriusXM's twitter says they can't cover it live, too short notice.

I hope someone drops a yellow flag and Mike Helton has to restart his announcement 3 times.

They changed the outcome of the points. All Edwards needed was one more lap led and he's the 2011 champion.

But that was what? 5 races before Homestead?

How can you devine what's going to happen that far ahead? That sort of thing happens every race from Daytona to the midts of the season.

You're trying to connect these two outcomes as been the same which couldn't be farther from the truth.

None of the major sports news outlets are reporting on this yet.....

Oh man, this is interesting stuff. Just finshied watchin the race and I read all 11 pages of this thread. Looks very suspecious indeed. Hell, I think its a given that it was intentional. I admit I like the results that resulted from it but I nonetheless do feel very bad for Gordon and Newman. I wonder what the penalty will be? Hell I will start a thread about that right now.

CB Lang just said that the news conference will be fed back to the NASCAR Radio studio for broadcast on The Late Shift.

This was 10 races before Homestead, so we should let them off?

Why, we're already here?
