2018 Charlotte -- Bank Of America Roval 400 - Pre-Race Thread

From Cindric lap NBC just showed:

Backstretch chicane: 165 MPH >>>> 111 MPH

Frontstretch chicane: 153 >>>>> 69

Turn 1: 107 >>>> 66

He had Custer in front of him for the last two.
That's a lot of "whoa' action!

What's the over/under on how many brake failures this weekend?

Hemline all over the place through the backstretch, wrecks himself.

Bubba spins again lol.

Bubba should go out and learn from Ron Fellows like a lot of the other younger Chevy drivers did a couple of years back.

How the hell did he perform so well on Xfinity road courses at a technical Mid-Ohio and Road America? Its actually weird how he's been so bad at Sonoma and Glen.

That was interesting

God Austin Dillon is an incredible commentator and I’d never have thought that. He’s a pretty smart guy and really was good at highlighting where people were performing or struggling at.

I really don’t like that wall where he hit, that seems incredibly dangerous. Place is like a street course

Hmm, is it me, or I am hearing some, what kind of sounds like some bitterness coming from AJ ?

Not really. He's okay at the Glen, but Sonoma outside of that race with Smoke in '16. That's like the only time he's been decent there.

The more those guys invent something to say, the less credibility they have and it just become a distracting noise to me. Dillion gets on there for 5 minutes and actually announced what was happening and blew them all away.

Probably but in my opinion It's well founded if it is.

Not sure why. He’s a good dude but has been nothing but average since he’s been in Cup. Has the one random win at the glen but that’s about it.

This could be a good way for AJ to cap off his NASCAR career. The pressure is finally off of him at a road course for once, and a lot of the other big guns will just be trying to avoid trouble and collect points.

I just saw Clint Bowyer and Kathy and Marcus Smith on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. :D

At first glance I thought the same but Idk...On second thought, he seemed more like a guy that's come to the realization that this is probably the end of the road and he's not ready to accept it.....climbing out of the car after that 2nd place effort certainly didn't help matters but what ya gonna do...

At the end of the day, when it's all said and done..Ajs got nothing to be bitter about. It happens. He'll come around.

AJ's going to kill it in IMSA and I hope he finds his way to some Indy 500 action.

Hahaha these people they’re talking to in the infield have “America, **** yeah” stickers all over their trash cans for life size beer pong

20 years from now we be like...
remember that JA Dingerall?....man that kid could drive.

That one win is the reason why JTG is still even in business. Kroger re-uped the weekend after with the contract extension.

Dinger did a great job with the team, but maybe Preece could be the guy to help elevate the team more down the road? Its to be seen, but don't diminish what the AJ did with them.

I like Preece more than Allmendinger but there's a lesser shot of winning a race with him instead of AJ unless they get their crap together with the Hendrick support. The road course runs with AJ are the reason they're still ticking or even have 2 cars if you ask me.

I don't think so, instead of road courses being A.J's forte, Preece will do well at the smaller tracks to start with. Who knows he might take a fancy to the restrictor plate tracks, he seems like a pretty smart driver.

Preece is quite the mature driver, I think he will catch on quickly in Cup. Preece and Buescher will definately be one of the fan favorite teams now. Both guys have earned their stripes in some difficult situations and now both are Cup drivers.

Now, if only JTG can use Hendrick engines and chassis as well. A lot of new blood is getting pressed into the field, it will be fun to watch for sure.

What ever happened to the large archway billboard that was supposed to be going up somewhere along the infield portion of the track?
