2018 Charlotte -- Bank Of America Roval 400 - Pre-Race Thread

It is really going to be dicey for the Xfinity cars, they haven't had the testing at the track.
Yeah, if you're in the stands for the X race, it might be worth your while to look around and see who might be sitting near you. Who knows who might be up there gathering data?

Potential rain Friday and Saturday, too. The notebooks may be completely blank come Sunday afternoon.
Doesn't look like much of a chance to the NWS:

Load'en up for the Roval

Except for the fast forward/no sound thing, i enjoyed this vid. Remember the good ole days of ESPN back in the late 80's early 90's
when they used to show stuff like this during rain delays? Gave the viewers a chance to be introduced to some of the guys at the
shop that no one ever hears about and how they do things. Amazing how much equipment and spare parts they can cram into those
haulers. Sure would be a lot more fun than listening to Burton and Co. trying to think of things to talk about. I think I remember Terry
Labonte or one of the other Hendrick guys giving a tour where they were actually pulling open drawers and cabinets to show how tools
and stuff were stored so that they wouldn't shift around during the trip. Wrapped up the tour by saying that sometimes his crew chief
would look under the cushions in the forward lounge to see if there might be some extra speed lurking there.

Apparently due to drivers being unfamiliar with the Roval configuration at Charlotte the Xfinity drivers were allowed to run two extra "optional" practices today (Thursday) in addition to two practices on Friday.

No optional practices for the Cup drivers, however.

wuts up wit dat ?

The results of the 2 Xfinity practices are posted on the Xfinity 2018 thread.

The Cup drivers tested. Xf did not.. so they were given the optional extra practices times.

going to the Hall of Fame instead of track today.
Have fun, we really enjoyed it when we were there. We had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings which is attached to the hall. I had the Big Jack Daddy Burger and the wife had the Screamin Nacho Burger. They were delicious but we had half of'em left over so it was "to go" bag time. :D

Guys spinning and hitting walls 10 mins into practice smh.

Get your rocks off real good this weekend, NASCAR.

15 minutes and I've lost track of the body count. Wallace, Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Almirola, Wallace again, Stenhouse, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Austin Dillon.

The wall in the corner where Stenhouse spun sure is close to the track!

Why is there a wall right at the end of the backstretch chicane? I've never seen anything like that before. Someone's gonna kill that thing and back up the whole backstretch.
