2018 Charlotte -- Bank Of America Roval 400 - Pre-Race Thread

Well, the weather got good, so we went to track instead of Hall of Fame Friday, we sat where they go into turn one for practice and qualifying, the transition from the track to the roval is pretty rough and upsets the car in three different areas of the transition to turn 2, lot of loose through there. It was a lot of fun to see them get a handle on it and they did, overall, very well getting a handle on it. We are really excited for the first race today.

I don't think so, instead of road courses being A.J's forte, Preece will do well at the smaller tracks to start with. Who knows he might take a fancy to the restrictor plate tracks, he seems like a pretty smart driver.

Maybe, would be cool to see them win at a short track for sure. Buescher and Preece are 2 of the best on those I'd think.

#NASCAR will designate first 10 minutes of final practice today for restart practice. Teams will NOT go through frontstretch chicane for start & restarts. This 10-minute practice allows drivers to get braking points since they will go faster entering Turn 1 then if run chicane
 
Blaney knocks the left front off again. Bubba wipes out the chicane and his car is done. It wasn't even close, hit it in the middle.

I wish the hell they would keep the schedule that's announced two weeks ahead of time. The schedules that I list on the pre-race threads are the published ones but they sometimes change them on Monday or Tuesday before the races. Jackwagons. :mad::mad::mad:

They can shove their sports app. I'm watching the stream on my laptop when I could be watching on a 55" TV. :mad:
 
Erik Jones and Bubba Wallace just represented why i dislike that wall jetting out like that. Whoever approved that needs to be re-evaluated.

That is stupid risk if they ever get 2 wide actually racing.
 
So I have to say I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race. I’ll own it when I said earlier this year “I hope this fails, another gimmick.” Tomorrow is going to be fun it looks like. I just hope we don’t see every track try this, if NASCAR wants to do more road racing there are a great many facilities to expand to in the US. But I’ll be watching tomorrow from flag to flag

I love the idea of the roval and I think NASCAR & Speedway Motorsports have done a brilliant job here so far. Always some unknowns.

Yeah, but expect mistakes tomorrow. A lot of drivers have tagged that wall, no matter the talent level.

Mistakes are bound to come about.

sounds like it has already failed for ya and they haven't raced it yet. :D

I would love to see that Homestead Roval in action though I played it the hell out of that in Thunder 04. Did IMSA run there?

Yes maybe I didn’t have the best “hot take” when this roval idea came out. That’s what message boards are for I guess. We’ll see how the rest of the weekend goes
