2018 NASCAR Truck Thread

Kyle Busch Motorsports

The average age of the three drivers behind the wheel of Kyle Busch Motorsports trucks this weekend at Martinsville Speedway will be just shy of 18.

Noah Gragson is the elder statesman of the group at 19 while Todd Gilliland and Harrison Burton are each 17-years old. All three drivers are products of the NASCAR Next developmental program and came up through the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.

Gilliland captured the K&N West crown in 2016 and 2017 while Burton was the champion in the East in 2017. Gragson tallied six wins between the two series in 2015 and 2016.

The surprising veteran out of the trio at Martinsville is Burton - who has the most starts of the KBM group on the half-mile track with three.

Noah Gragson won the last Martinsville race. He finished fourth in his series track debut in the spring and then collected his first career series win in the fall.

Awful far away but:
NASCAR has moved its Camping World Truck Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway from Wednesday night Aug. 15 to Thursday night Aug. 16 and it will be telecast by Fox. Thursday night of the BMS summer race weekend previously had no track activity because of a racing celebration and fan event in downtown Bristol. BMS GM Jerry Caldwell: "We have received a lot of feedback over the years suggesting this change and through a number of meetings with NASCAR, television and sponsor partners, we all agreed that this move was in the best interest of the fans."

Gonna post this again:

Some Fox Sports staffers hope the move means sports programming will be even more vital to the new Fox network and will take a bigger prime-time position on the Fox broadcast network. The idea is that Fox, which has two hours of prime time per night from 8 to 10 p.m., would use live rights such as sports, news and talent shows for prime time. After the transaction, the new Fox will be debt-free, which could give it the luxury to be in acquisition mode. Think less investment in “Empire” and more in Red Sox-Yankees.

“My hope is that we’ll be a stripped down and more focused company that will be out there trying to acquire more rights,” one Fox Sports employee said.

Could very well be a trial run of that philosophy, possibly leading to midweek races at the Xfinity/Cup level someday. They've already invested big in Thursday Night Football.

Christian Eckes lands four-race deal with Kyle Busch Motorsports in Truck Series

I live an hour and a half from Middletown, and I've never heard of him. @AndyMarquisLive who is this kid?

Friesen Gragson Moffett and Sauter look like they should be the favorites

He who shall not be named is not in this one? Thank the powers that be.

No idea how Burton saved that truck

Qualifying results: Gragston has taken to the upper level stuff like a duck to water. Looking forward to this race, hope they get it in.

Kinda looks that way with the Gilliland's also. Andretti's? it is still skipping :p

David was a solid driver, just never had a good car to show.

Mario, Michael, Marco... Marco eh not so much. Michael was kind of overrated IMHO and I don't use that word often.

I Thought Michael was a heck of a disappointment compared to Mario. The competition level in Mario's era, there was no comparison, and Marco? what can I say. Todd Gilliland is third generation and his grandpa is a Winston West champion.

Johnny Sauter placed 19th out of 24 in the first round, 11th out of twelve in the second round and wound up on the front row with a second. Not too shabby.
Go Sauter.
