2021 Silly Season

Larson is definitely in agreement with the majority of drivers that prefer higher horsepower and lower downforce. Likely more so than most, as that suits his talent. Momentum racing does not. That bush can be beat around in a variety of ways, but it's obvious. He is likely good enough to excel no matter the formula, but his incredible level of skill in open wheel dirt cars only partially translates to a heavy stock car. If the run he's had this summer provides anything translatable to Cup, it's confidence and aggression.
Yeah. This is why Smoke, Edwards, and Johnson were generally the best from 2005-2013ish. It seems like those talented dirt guys had a skill set that just happened to fit into cup success.

Larson is one of those guys, and if he was about 10 years older, there's little doubt he'd be a top tier driver in the early 2000s.

I have always thought LaJoie was a smart ass with a big mouth and I won't be surprised if he doesn't find a cup ride. You can't get away with that unless you can really drive a racecar, and he has never been close. I think Archie got rid of him because he was bad for business.
So glad you said this dude! I completely agree. I was indifferent to him, but his handling of the Denny chronicles was downright pathetic and weak. Ill say the same thing I said then, I hope he doesn't get a good cup ride. I think that dude is a clown.

Professionals with his skills adapt.

Or they find employment elsewhere.
oh gees for years some were calling for Larson's head on a stick when he didn't instantly win a Cup championship or a race. And when has anybody won a race in a Chipmobile lately?

I'm really not wanting to see another season with Bowyer in the 14 car. No, no and no to him going around on a retirement tour next season. Always hated the retirement tour thing like with Jeff Gordon snd Tony Stewart, it's goofy and put on. Thankfully the pandemic didn't allow it with Jimmie Johnson. In a perfect world everyone would walk away like Carl Edwards did with no fanfare. Anyways, what a waste of a good seat that'd be for Bowyer to have another mediocre season at SHR. I'm all for Larson to the 14 if they can make it happen.

Ridiculous! What Jeff and Tony meant to the sport, it was a big deal for every track that they’d never race again at. Especially for Jeff

yeah I agree, there are some really serious fans and some people who have known some of the drivers since childhood.

Heck, we don't have that now.

Is Mike Joy not a professional? I will get slammed for saying this, but I actually think Rick Allen is a talented guy, but the presentation comes off poorly, and that may not all be his fault. I have decided it is really Jeff Burton that I hate in that booth. Maybe not so much what he says, but HOW he says it. I also think that when the network insists on having four people do what is only a 2-3 person job, you're going to get a lot of jabbering. Remove ANY one of those four, and I think the broadcast gets a LOT better.

From what I've heard of Bowyer, he's easier for me to take than Jeff Burton. When Jeff gets wound up, he drags everyone else along with him.

I agree completely there are too many people in the booth.

What the hell, what? Please elaborate. I don't remember this!

I've been trying to find it. It was awhile back.

The sport lives on without them. It's over the top and not necessary. I remember at one track they gave Jeff Gordon a pony. Wth?

It isn't over the top at all

Spire eyeballing Chastain and Haley

Spire Motorsports Gears Up For Enhanced NASCAR Effort In 2021

A couple of weeks ago, Ross Chastain and Kaulig Racing announced that Moose Fraternity would be adorning their No. 10 NASCAR Xfinity Series race car for three events in 2020.
According to Moose Fraternity’s website, their scheduled sponsorship for Chastain’s No. 10 NXS car for Daytona International Speedway was moved to Spire Motorsports’ No. 77 car for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400 due to, “a racing team commitment.”

Dickerson is about to snap up Matt Kaulig's line-up.

The duo is trying everything to make the money back from the loan they put in for the charter. Hiring Chastain and Haley would be a good step for them, however I doubt both would want to trundle around the rear of the field. Also, I hope they are able to find a team willing to workout a technical alliance with them. Just, I'm not sold on these two being in the game for too long IMO. I wish the best for them otherwise.

MJ buying in would certainly explain why Bubba would want to stay in the 43
All the implications out there that Denny is involved is what has me scratching my head. Why in the world would he do anything but what he's doing at JGR? I think DBC implied RPM was looking at Larson as well. If Jordan buys in and Bubba stays, that could be a way of gracefully bringing Larson back. (Minority team owner and teammate giving approval of progress Larson has made)

With the exception of Joe Gibbs any professional athlete being part of a nascar team has never panned out in the long run

Exactly. Jordan may be the GOAT as a player, but his stints as a team owner have been abysmal. (Wizards, Hornets)

I think they should steer clear of Toyota, look what happened to Barney Visser. Stick it out with Chevy

Would be great to see, he’s a Carolina guy and he and the Jordan Brand are already committing $100M over the next 10 years to various social initiatives.

I may be in the minority but I think an RPM/TRD linkup would be good too. Maybe over time a second seat could be opened for TRD development drivers.

Barney has a ring.
Not only that, but 5-Hour dropping out at the worst time pretty much sealed the teams fate.

Barney's health was so-so, not to mention he didn't want to go back to sponsoring his own car. Remember, in 2017 the team had all 36 races filled on the schedule.
