To be fair, I do see that Denny apparently overslept and missed the first Sonoma morning practice. But not sure why any 2 year driver skips out on any Sonoma practice.
Rockwell knew what the situation was, or SHOULD have, and just accepted it for what it was. If you are going to sponsor drivers that have commitments hundreds or thousands of mile apart, you have to prepare for the fact you may have to go to plan B at some point. To pull a switcheroo in the middle of a race is just wrong. It doesn't matter in that situation he was going to fail to fulfill obligations that were promised to someone.
I can't understand why people think it was bad for Denny to jump in the car late. Rockwell paid for Denny to be in the car not AA. If AA was to be in the car from the very beginning I doubt they would have wrote a check.

Almirola knew he was going to be pulled out of that car. I see nothing to be embarrassed about. If he didn't want to get credit for where Hamlin finished, he shouldn't have climbed in.
If I was Hamlin, I'd have wanted some extra road course practice before going back to Sonoma too.
The simple fact is that he's good enough that if he brought some decent amount of money with him, 2/3rds of the Cup garage and 90% of the Xfinity garage would be trying to hire him. We can argue all day long why he doesn't have money to bring, but the truth is we have no idea what has gone on behind the scenes, and the only person around here who MIGHT know has chosen not to share any information with us, which I fully understand. My only thing with Matt is, I wish some of you would realize he’s not always had a car that could win. That’s a huge factor. You try and mention how many years he had, but neglect the fact most of them was in a car that even the best likely wouldn’t win in. He’s not a top level talent, but he’s better than people give him credit for as well.
not one indicator of that. In fact, two years driving a Penske car prove differently. He is in Sam Hornish territoryThe simple fact is that he's good enough that if he brought some decent amount of money with him, 2/3rds of the Cup garage and 90% of the Xfinity garage would be trying to hire him. His driving however is out there for everyone to see, and if you can't see that the guy can drive, then you are purposely trying not to see it.
If we look at just Cup. It took Chase 3 years to win at HMS… just saying.not one indicator of that. In fact, two years driving a Penske car prove differently. He is in Sam Hornish territory
with 10 and 12 top 5's those two years. Surely you aren't serious. If we look at just Cup. It took Chase 3 years to win at HMS… just saying.
Exactly. He has the best finish in the Leavine Family Racing car. A car that despite being with JGR, was not anywhere near a JGR car. Wheeled it to a second at Bristol. Had an 8th at Indy with a Go Fas Racing, don’t let the name fool you. A 6th at Bristol for BK Racing. Nice numbers for a guy in pretty bad equipment during those times. The simple fact is that he's good enough that if he brought some decent amount of money with him, 2/3rds of the Cup garage and 90% of the Xfinity garage would be trying to hire him. Oh my bad I thought we was talking about wins. Forget we move goal post here when it doesn’t help your case. My bad.with 10 and 12 top 5's those two years. Surely you aren't serious.
no goal post moving slick. Facts and figures tell the story, not wishing and hoping. This ol B.S. story about having crappy equipment falls on it's face when flat Matt gets into a decent car and bombs out.Oh my bad I thought we was talking about wins. Forget we move goal post here when it doesn’t help your case. My bad.
Then look at the great finishes he had in lack luster cars. BK, Go Fas and Leavine Family Racing were not great teams and he had some damn good runs in those cars. But you’ll probably BS around this like you do everything.no goal post moving slick. Facts and figures tell the story, not wishing and hoping
I believe, if you have your reading comprehension eyes on, I have been comparing the time he has been driving a Penske car. Then look at the great finishes he had in lack luster cars. lol see. This is what I mean.I believe, if you have your reading comprehension eyes on, I have been comparing the time he has been driving a Penske car.
You have PART of that right, a DECENT car, not a GREAT car. Other than the one outlier win, his numbers are little different than Blaney's were in that car. He made the playoffs last year, and if they had changed crew chiefs sooner, he probably would have made it this year too, in a year when the Penske and the Fords in general have not been on top of their game. If what he has done in the DECENT 21 is a bomb out to you, then I don't think the two of us will ever come to an agreement on the meaning of the phrase. Stop with the notion that the 21 is a car ready to win every week just because Blaney was able to get ONE win in the car.no goal post moving slick. Facts and figures tell the story, not wishing and hoping. This ol B.S. story about having crappy equipment falls on it's face when flat Matt gets into a decent car and bombs out.
The indicator is how well he’s done in cars he got better results out of than he should. You can’t ignore THOSE factsnot one indicator of that. In fact, two years driving a Penske car prove differently. He is in Sam Hornish territory
In your dreams Jr.lol see. This is what I mean.
Oh he hasn’t won!
I mention how long it took chase to win
oh he had top 5s and 10s
GOAL POST MOVING! It’s really hilarious. So no, you’re not getting away with that BS. You asked how to know he’s good, and I damn well showed you numbers in crap cars. They are relevant. Rather you like it or not. Case CLOSED
I used numbers to prove it. LolIn your dreams Jr.
Probably not. But I’m sure I would be told I’m wrong then also... Is there any other news than the passing of the buck?
What’s his best finish? Can’t be better than Matt’s in the 95 car, as he got a 2nd place out of it at BRISTOL.Lets look at C.Bell driving a Leavine car in the last days of their being in racing. Nat as good but pretty close to Matt's numbers. But when C.Bell gets to cup his FIRST year, he is 10th in the standings. His team mates are 3,4, and 7th and Bell is 10th.
On the other hand Matt is 18th with 7 years of cup experience. Matt's team mates are 2nd, 6th and 8th...and he is 18th.
Deadass that is moving goal posts. I'm actually agreeing with Blaze. What’s his best finish? Can’t be better than Matt’s in the 95 car, as he got a 2nd place out of it at BRISTOL.
and calling cars on ANOTHER TEAM, teammates is funny lol.
If he actually got time to prove himself and failed I say he isn’t as good as I think. But some of the people on the other side wouldn’t ever admit to being wrong. It also depends on what people say is a good ride as well.Quick question. Hypothetically if Matt got what we considered is a top tier ride and bombed, would those going to bat for him admit he's mediocre? Just thoughts I have while stuck in traffic

Sorry Bud a second at Bristol isn't going to get you anywhere when he had two years in a decent cup car and has done nada in two years. What’s his best finish? Can’t be better than Matt’s in the 95 car, as he got a 2nd place out of it at BRISTOL.

Deadass that is moving goal posts.
I can agree with this, Leavine actually had more TRD support when Bell came in.Yeah I’m not buying how great and championship material the 21 car is.
Will be interesting to see how Harrison Burton does the next few years.
Matt actually has had better runs at some tracks than Bubba Wallace in the Mike Wheeler 95/23 but that doesn’t fit the narrative.
The story that came out of the Penske for hiring Burton was new driver for a new car..whatever that means. I betting his first year at this time of the year he won't be in 18th place driving Penske stuff.Yeah I’m not buying how great and championship material the 21 car is.

boredSomebody make it stop.
Ah. My bad haha. Didn’t seem like it, surely when the guy I was going back and forth with likes it as well.I can agree with this, Leavine actually had more TRD support when Bell came in.
Bell had Rheem money, so in turn LFR used the money to up the "support".
@Blaze I was actually agreeing with you.
well he obviously needs a manager, why don't you applyAh. My bad haha. Didn’t seem like it, surely when the guy I was going back and forth with likes it as well.
I get the feeling some people think I think he’s a top could win every week in great equipment driver. When that’s not it. I just look at what he did in lesser equipment and think huh, he clearly can’t be that bad if he wheeled these cars to decent runs and finishes. Do some people overrate him? Sure, but some underrate him as well. I think in an actual Penske car for a season or two and he win a couple times or so. But I’m not gonna consider the 21 an actual Penske car. Because it’s not
Because I don’t think I would do good in that field. But I agree he needs a manager. Never even said he didn’t.well he obviously needs a manager, why don't you apply
Matt is only P18 because of the playoff point reset. He slides up to P14 in points looking at points totals without the reset and points scored per race. Realistically, he’s up there with guys like Bowman, Kurt Busch and Reddick with respect to consistent point collection. Unfortunately, the current system doesn't really reward that.On the other hand Matt is 18th with 7 years of cup experience. Matt's team mates are 2nd, 6th and 8th...and he is 18th.
He is in 18th. It isn't time to tell fairy talesMatt is only P18 because of the playoff point reset. He slides up to P14 in points looking at points totals without the reset and points scored per race.
The 7 years cup experience line is disingenuous throw away. He’s spent 5 of those years over performing in under funded equipment, making his own way up the ladder.
If you’re actually honest about it, things make more sense.
