2022 Silly Season

I can understand the woe is me mentality when you’re getting replaced by a guy with 0 Xfinity wins in a JGR car full time in 2021.

No snark at all. Just pointing out the data, he regressed.
I mean outside of Hemric winning, none of the full-time drivers won.

It was a down season for the full-time drivers compared to last season. Just in terms of winning because of JRM's improvement, Penske being consistent, and Kaulig. It happens, to all teams at some point.

Just a constant ebb and flow. This just happened to be a down year for JGR's Xfinity program for full-timers.

That’s valid and real points but I don’t think he’s ready for the Cup Series. In a car like that he should be winning a bit more and putting up a few more top 5’s. He’s a good kid but he brings sponsorship.

Hemric is the only full time driver that won in the Xfinity series for JGR and it took a hail Mary for him to do so. That is excluding the Opra 54 car. They weren't that great this year if you take the 54 out of it.

That’s fine but even his top 5 & top 10 results are outperformed by Brandon Jones. He’s a good kid and sponsor friendly but he’s sorta getting a pass to me because DiBennedetto is off his rocker.

not really, one more top 5 and three less top ten's than Burton had? Your reaching

That could get complicated with stockholders and all
The shareholders are probably happy and Dover is bowing out while the eating is good with the reception of Nashville. Dover, I'm not so sure, I hope it doesn't lose its date. It may not be the best track in racing, but watching them go around that concrete monster is an excellent watch.

Pocono is it, I wonder how long Pocono will hold out?

SMI is buying Dover Motorsports:

I predicted this several years ago. The holding company that owns Dover Motorsports had already sold off every other asset (mainly gambling), including sale of the shuttered Nashville Superspeedway in a transaction that never closed.

I fear for the Dover race. It would be sad if that goes away, as it is a skill-intensive track with a high degree of difficulty. The Monster Mile separates the Contenders from the Pretenders.

Why would the Smith's buy it and then tear it down. It makes little sense to me. At the most I think they could modernize it, maybe reconfigure it.

Buying it and then going to the expense of tearing it down does indeed make little sense. It's much cheaper to move the date and let Dover fall apart on its own, a la Wilkesboro and Rockingham.
You seriously want Dover gone?
Want it? No. Surprised if it happens? Also no.

Attendance is awful, the horse racing, hotel, and casino are run by others so control may be difficult, and they *might* want the date for the Nashville Fairgrounds. Just speculating, I have no facts to back it up.

Define awful? 40-45K bad?

I would love to support Dover still. It’s a shame no one else wants to support NHMS, Dover. Both are in nice locations otherwise devoid of good sports.

The land Dover is on has to be extremely valuable. That area has exploded over the past 30 years. For racing the area is kinda over-saturated. Pocono is 2.5 hours away and Richmond 3.5 hours. Watkins Glen 5 hours. Personally I am in CT and although Dover and Loudon are equal distance from me EVERYONE goes to (excuse me..."went") to Loudon for the Cup races, not Dover. A few go to Pocono.

People I know always went to Dover over Pocono, but I live an hour from the track

I don't think it's fair to say such a young driver, who is miles and miles from hje prime, is regressing.

Matt Dibenedetto deserves that ride more than Harrison Burton and I will stand by that.
