Man, I forgot about that.
Scanners are usable during tests as well. Not the one in the NASCAR App.

Unstable period. Really short deck lid with HUGE rear window. That's why they run such a big spoiler too. I'm fairly impressed with the progress. Are they unstable only in traffic? Unstable only with the 670 package? Or just unstable altogether?
I'm guessing it's the latter since they seem to be losing control when nobody is around them? I haven't had a chance to follow along, stupid work getting in the way
Kyle Damn doing his thing, looks like the larger shark fin works

Cars look hard to drive, I also like what I see.I'm liking what I'm seeing.
That looked solid. Especially how Kurt navigated his way to first was pretty cool to see.
Also, I'll record it another time.Cars look hard to drive, I also like what I see.
yeah interesting. For 2 mph more average a lap they had to go up to 670. 120 more HP. Proves once again how important aero is over HP.Pole speed for the 600 was 180.282 mph ....
It's real close to the Xfiniti cars in speed, almost as fast, three tenths slower. After the crews get the car for awhile they will find even more speed I bet.I’ll be honest, they might of found something here at 670
That's pretty good considering these cars are symmetrical. A lot of speed with nothing to lean onIt's real close to the Xfiniti cars in speed, almost as fast, three tenths slower. After the crews get the car for awhile they will find even more speed I bet.
Kurt is going to put a lot of heat on Bubba because I frankly think he'll (Kurt) show him up quite a bit. No one wants to say it, but make or break time for Bubba coming up.Kurt is already looking pretty good in the 23XI Toyota. Bowman looked good in the 9 car.
Make or break time for what?Kurt is going to put a lot of heat on Bubba because I frankly think he'll (Kurt) show him up quite a bit. No one wants to say it, but make or break time for Bubba coming up.
Yes, Kurt will be good. Bubba is fine.Kurt is going to put a lot of heat on Bubba because I frankly think he'll (Kurt) show him up quite a bit. No one wants to say it, but make or break time for Bubba coming up.
Make or break time for what?
Pockcrass on what's to come on Friday:
He'll be fine.Meaning if Kurt does really well and wins (which I think he will), it will turn up the heat on Bubba as the excuses will be gone. As long as he sells sponsorship and runs top 20, Bubba is safe to keep the ride. Don't get me wrong. I'm more thinking of "legacy" and reputation. Bubba needs a win without an asterisk for the haters, and with Kurt's help I think the team will get there this year. Bubba just has to deliver. *hot take*
Right on. Cheers and here's to a great first Christmas for you in this neck of the woods! He'll be fine.
Clean slate for everyone, so its all about adaptability to the handling characteristics of the new car. We shall see, I'm not concerned about an "astrisk" win. It's there in the history books and we all saw how he got to first.
All that really matters at the end. Let people be negative that want to be.
Maybe 670 is the new 550?I’ll be honest, they might of found something here at 670
Hey, show some respect. It probably took some kid at UTI over 30 minutes to come up with that idea. Are they still running holes in the windshields and holes in the rear window? That seems like an inelegant, jury-rigged solution to interior ventilation.
I guess if money were no object things would be different...but it isn't that way. They raised the cars off of the track and added a complete underpan. That's cheaper BUT it adds drag. What they are having problems with are stability in traffic. That is something that is almost impossible to simulate except at the track in real conditions. Wind tunnel and CFD analysis are almost worth less for that.Maybe 670 is the new 550?
The new cars seem to have a lot more drag than the Gen 6 cars. That's why when using to same 550 HP motors as last year, the Next Gen cars are significantly slower and more lethargic, despite trying a wide range of different spoilers and other aerodynamic details. I'm slightly surprised they designed in more drag; and I'm shocked they seem surprised that they have more. They seem to be scrambling to overcome the drag. Didn't they know that from CFD analysis and wind tunnel work?
As you have pointed out, the Next Gen cars are symmetrical and smaller quarter panels, both of which reduce side force. But they seem to be scrambling to add side force back via fins and skirts... WTF? I'm opposed to side force because it creates bad mojo when cars get side-by-side during a passing maneuver. Time will tell...

I'm curious about how the simulators work. Put in a LOT of numbers and push the compute button I guess. Just think about how many mechanical variable's there are just to get a baseline. Spring rates, leverage ratios of suspension, swaybar influence, center-of-gravity vs ride-height. Etc, Etc.I guess if money were no object things would be different...but it isn't that way. I really wonder if there is something else going on when they worry about spoiler height.
They can't take too much rear downforce away without taking away front downforce, right?I really wonder if there is something else going on when they worry about spoiler height.
Fine with me if they are.NASCAR is probably worried that fans will complain about the cars being too spread apart. Even though cars will eventually get strung out, even with the High DF/Low HP package.
