Would someone remind me why the left exhaust doesn't still go out the right side of the car?

Thanks!
I'd have to assume with the new tube/center section there isn't room under the car for exhaust. The whole thing is didn't want exhaust under the car so teams couldn't use it to manipulate the air

Guess they're testing at Martinsville today and tomorrow. Rumors are that tomorrow afternoon they will be doing a test under damp conditions.

Good analysis in my opinion. I ask though, if we were to remove the spacer completely or at least open it up to a max of say 800 HP, would that open the engine up to any potential damage?
Likely with the current parts and configuration they would have issues getting multiple races out of them. It's not really an issue if teams were told up front they would make necessary changes to make them last

Really you'd just need 6 races. A separate engine for Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond would work in my opinion. It is amazing though that we see fantastic racing at Dover, Phoenix, Darlington, heck even Gateway, yet these really short tracks are just not cutting the mustard.

Props to NASCAR for trying though, F1 simply just trots out their stuff at Monaco a place where you almost quite literally cannot pass

I think a short track engine package would be a simple solution but they claim that in the name of cost savings they don't want multiple engine packages

I just think we're at the point where there's no other option to put together a race worth watching. Hell we could just throw a bunch of late models out there, that'd be a hell of a lot cheaper :D

I have been saying since day one that the notion of only one or two car "packages" was complete nonsense if you want really good racing every week. The sport is going to have to make a choice. Spend less money or have better racing.

I'm not saying that going to 10 minutes is a bad thing, but again I have a problem with how it is being implemented. IMO you can't change things like this mid-season. You just open up the argument of "well given last week's rules this would have been different". I didn't pay close enough attention, but its entirely possible Blaney doesn't make the playoffs if some the cars at Daytona were given another 4 minutes of repair time.

It's nice to hear some honest opinions out of drivers than just the company line. This might be another one of these deals where this off-season Nascar may need to go to the teams and ask for help.

Nah, I was told NASCAR has everything figured out, Kurt got concussed because he's old, it's total delusion that the cars aren't breaking apart/dissipating energy, the off-season rumors about an unsafe car were totally false, the infamous crash test dummy test was complete BS, blah blah blah blah blah I've heard it ALL. I hate to be right on this one.

I bet NASCAR is absolutely scrambling on this in Concord. Personally, I think NASCAR knows they have a CTE/head trauma issue and that's an issue that's going to be near impossible to fix as long as you're racing cars. There's been a lot coming to light on this issue. Some of it coincidental, some of it hush hush. Jr and Kurt raced with soft walls and HANS devices 80% of their careers and they're both out. Carl Edwards... never got a clear answer on why he left at the top of his career. It is worth noting his wife is a neurosurgeon... rumors are that perhaps she told him to stop as it was damaging his brain. I was listening to a podcast the other week with Jimmy Spencer he says pretty bluntly he accepts he's going to have Alzheimer's and already has memory issues.
