500 Qualifying-plus all things Danica

Well I myself say congratulations to DP for the run, I mean not just anyone can climb into a Cup car & go out & win the pole like that. She still had to get in the car & steer it in the right direction & keep it on the floor. Loads of drivers have raced at Daytona & never won a pole there. Now then, I say when the duel starts, she ought to just run a few laps & then park it that is unless the car is strong enough for her to run up front or close to it the entire race...

is there any reason to think that the 10 team might elect to start at the back of the pack in thursday's duel ?
 
Although it's not uncommon for the front row qualifiers to politely fade from the duels, she'll be highly criticized if she does.

IMO, she needs to do what she thinks gives her the best shot at winning the 500 - to hell with the duels.

However, if she wants to mix it up with the big boys, I say go for it :D
 
If she doesn't race the duels like she wants to win it, she will be left to learn how it's done during the 500. The heck with saving the car, she should go all out for the win and take whatever she learns into the 500.
 
Danica sure has her own posse of avid defenders on racing forums. If you fail to say Danica is a racing genius, they jump on you like a pack wolves. It's starting to border on obsession.

It's true. All you have to do is criticize Danica's driving and you're a woman hating bastard. Say she isn't all that hot, and they say you're blind, gay, or both. Criticize her for intentionally wrecking someone, and you'll hear a speech about equal rights for woman and how you're sexist for not agreeing with her decision.

It's impossible to give an honest opinion on Danica's looks or skill as a driver without it turning into a militant NOW rally. We have toadies, but I'm thinking this troupe of hysterical Danites needs a name. I'm going with A cup bra burners.

Oh I firmly believe she won't win a race but she could luck her way into one at some point if enough people crash out.

I think that any driver who makes it to the IRL, to Nationwide or to CUP racing has to have talent. Even Kerry Earnhardt and Steven Wallace have some talent. (well...) Danica is quite talented, IMO.

She is in good equipment, which undoubtedly helps her look good - but she's no slouch!

My biggest question regarding Miss Thang is whether her dimintive size will prove to be too much of a "handicap" to overcome. It's a long-ass season and these CUP cars are far different fom the Nationwide cars and/or the 1500 pound go-karts she drove in the IRL.

Time will tell. I hope she does really well.

That's the real question for the duels. Do Gordon and Partrick save the car for the 500 or race hard to learn how the car works in a crowd.

If she runs enough races in top quality equipment she will likely win a race or two...average drivers with the good stuff usually do.


What would REALLY be great...to pump up ratings for the 500...would be if she just dominated her 125. I could just imagine:

Announcer: "This is the first time in a long time we have seen a car lead start to finish in a 125...it reminds me a bit of Sterling (Nigel) Marlin back in the day".

That would be a HUGE story wouldn't it :D.

Hi all, I am a fan of Danica Patrick! My nephew told me about her before she was a name. He went to a nearby school to Patrick's. I chuckled when he told me to watch her in the Indy 500, several years ago. I remember other gals who ran in that race. When she went to the lead my jaw dropped and been cheering for her ever since. My nephew and I have gone down to the Indy 500 to cheer for her. Why is she so diliked by so many race fans.

Threads in the wrong sections, personal attacks, name calling...one more Danica Patrick Thread is hardly a Capital crime.
