BUBBA WALLACE FINISHED SECOND!

You cant compare bubba to danica. Danica had a top ride and was awful. Bubba has an awful ride and is awful. Big surprise huh

Bubba and danica are nothing alike. Bubba can actually run up front in a good car something danica never could do

I've always been fascinated by the idea that this or that driver "deserves" the position he or she is or isn't in.

I'm sorry, but that is not and has never been the way things work in "our" sport. That works when determining the batting order for your T-Ball team.

I agree with most of this, but there are some glaring differences comparing Danica's and Bubba's driving in a cup car and the level of car they are driving. No way of proving it, but I would wager money that if Wallace was driving a SHR car for as long as Danica did..eh you know the rest.

Oh I totally agree. Bubba is much more qualified to be where he is and has shown more promise as a racer along the way. Danica didn’t show much of anything outside of a Daytona pole and one fuel mileage IndyCar win.

Bubba isn't a top tier prospect. I don't think he ever was considered such after being above average, but not exceptional or championship material while at KBM.

But RPM could help their long term viability if they fielded or partnered with a team to run him some NXS and/or Truck races.

He looked familiar but I couldn't remember his name.

I was a big fan of his and I think he was rushed to Xfinity too quickly. He was only 18 at the time and after everything went down with Turner-Scott and him losing Rockstar. His career ended after one year in Xfinity. I feel as if he was a bit of a crash kid, but he had potential and still does.

I remember now. Thanks.

Just saw they post above on Facebook from one of my fave sports commentators. It's true that lack of funding is the reason Bubba hasn't been more successful. I really hope he receives the financial backing he deserves via additional sponsorship at RPM. Otherwise he will have to join a more well-funded team.

The young man appears to be struggling ...

I always felt like he was on a great track at Roush and would likely replace Biffle but the team took a hit with sponsorship and money and both he and the #16 cup car vanished. There was no where for him to go so he took what he could. I think after running in sub par equipment for so long now he has lost confidence.

Yeah it was slim pickings for Bubba in Cup, but still looked semi-promising with early 18' sponsorship. Enough to top 20 top 15 on the regular.

Biffle and the #16 disappeared in a hurry. I don't even remember him getting a proper send off, it was just an (oh it's over).

As much as I like Bubba, it may be time to get a veteran driver in that seat to help them figure out some of their problems. And they need somebody that can bring in a sponsor.

The question in my mind, is WHO would take that ride that has a better ability to attract sponsors than Bubba? Please don't read anything into this, because I DO NOT mean it that way, but let's be honest, he has a pretty good gimmick to garner attention to himself, much the way Danica did. If HE can't attract sponsors, who would?

Yeah sponsorship in general is a problem now. I remember Kyle Petty said the only way for Bubba to significantly improve his plight would be to change teams to a better funded outfit (which I'm sure wasn't easy for him to say).

He is good in a truck not a cup car
“Not good in a cup car”

- Wins way into all star race
- Finishes 5th in all star race in a field full of winners and champions

Oh, all equipped with a mediocre car and a team in financial straits.

The kid is good and deserves to not be racing junk. But he has the fastest hunk of junk in Charlotte tonight.

To quote Rusty Wallace Bubba “flat drove his brains out tonight.” Came from the back to win the open, and drove to a 5th place finish in a mid pack ride. I don’t think he’s an otherworldly talent but he did an awesome job tonight, and he gets to take home a trophy (yes the open winners get trophies lol)

I think bubba has talent, but let's not get carried away with his performance in an all star event. The Dinger looked pretty stout last year in the all Star race and Suarez finished 2nd last year. One isn't in the series anymore and the other one hasn't done much since

you go ahead and take your advice and not get carried away. Myself, I enjoyed the hell out of following him in the races. Compared to many of the much better financed backmarkers out there running and highly funded teams that he out raced it was fun to watch the underdog get one once in a while. Hell of an effort for that team.

That team is in dire straits and needed that run. Too bad the media will be spending all week writing about how super-awesome Clint Bowyer is and Bubba will get no exposure for his performance.

Bubba has been fighting depression. Feeling like a failure. FINALLY showcases his talent at the highest level on a huge stage and he’s just pouring positive emotion. Wallace is a hero to so many people. If anyone has the gall to hate on him, they are not worth anyone’s time. Right on Bubba, right on.

They make a big deal out of the Wood Brothers and rightly so, but the Petty team is every bit as iconic as they are. Both of them are still in it despite harder times. I don't want to see either leave the sport unless they want to.
Same here, and I can't even lay claim to having seen them when they were in their prime like, I think, you and many other members get to say you have. Yet, I still respect how significant they are to the sport; their relationship to NASCAR is much like Ferrari and McLaren's relationships to Formula One. They are staples of the sport; both have such storied histories here like no other. I would love for them to stay. Hopefully, my future kids will get to see them around and understand why they are important, even if the teams are rather different nowadays.

What hath ye to say now, enlightened one?

Oh thats funny, I thought you don't care because you don't watch the races anymore?

and oh yes wow. he's so talented winning a stage race and finishing top 5 in a all star race

wooooooooooooooooooooooow

hall of fame ready

I happened to be home tonight. a**hole Season has started here at the beach and traffic sucks in the evening now.

You keep moving goalposts. That car is garbage, the team is on the brink of collapse, and he delivered a strong performance when it was needed. That was clutch tonight.

Thanks to @ChexOrWrex and @StandOnIt and @AndyMarquisLive for taking the time to post why Bubba's run tonight was impressive and meaningful. He sure did impress me, as he outran numerous well funded teams with highly paid drivers. It doesn't mean Bubba is ready for the Hall of Fame, but it wasn't luck and it means a lot.

Bubbas run last night impressed me. Had there been high attrition and he lucked his way forward that would be one thing. He drove it to the top five. It's well documented he's not in top five equipment. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather give a " thumbs up" for a job well done, than hunt a reason to critique it. Great job Bubba and RPM! From what I've read lately, he and that team really needed that.

Bubba is a hero? Has he ran into a burning building and saved someones life? LMAO! Poor guy gets paid lots of money to drive a racecar for crying out loud. He's got a terrible life
