Chicagoland Pre Race Thread

So one spotter only is the Penske Rule. Meant to keep the "big dog" out.

NASCAR being forced to install cameras up on the spotter stance and treat them like children. lol

So is letting a teammate lead a lap on lap 134 of a 500 lap race now illegal?

That's going to be hard to police.

How do you determine when a clean pass is made by a teammate and when that teammate is just letting that other teammate go? Umm

I"m pretty sure they're not going to worry about letting someone lead a lap. Giving someone a finishing spot, I think, is different...

They will hire throttle tattle tails..they will be right beside the debris caution guys..make sure the drivers aren't letting off..it will work..it will really.

I like the idea of spotters only in the spotters stand. I can already see a new rule coming: No owners or high ranking team personal as spotters.
I don't see how they can police not giving 100%, A simple handling excuse can cover that up.

Right, the problem with Penske in the spotter's stand is ... everybody else up there knows there's a good chance they'll have to ask him for a job someday. If you are trying to carve out a career in motorsports in America -- you really don't want to piss off Roger Penske.

I've been wondering what's it mean when you run your 10 fastest lap in the middle of a run. Take Gordon for example, his best run starts at lap 20 and ends at 29. Does he put new tires on and goes on a run later or is it progressive, on old tires?

Vets, this is your cue..

I think they should penalize Bowyer for putting so little effort into the spin heard around the country.

New tires, probably some adjustments. Trying something different.

they are going to learn baseball hand signals, and are asking Nascar for spittoons..got to have a chaw, part of the signal system

I'm not sure we will be racing tomorrow.

Rain, rain, more rain in the forecast. Nothing on monday.

Fact: In the two years Chicagoland opened the Chase (2011-2012), the race winner won the championship.

Small sample size, but it might be a good indicator considering five out of ten Chase races are at 1.5-mile venues.

only congress coulda come up a more confusin set a' new laws ! ha!
but guess they had ta do sumthin. ??

a bunch a' 'em gonna wind up like college fb's new "helmet ta helmet " rule.
15 yd penalty.....an def back ejected...................

which still effects game ?

I read more changes are coming tomorrow.

They'll finally address the restarts issue.

Among the possible changes are, eliminating the restart zone and letting the flagman control it, or another option is to put the leader on another row all to himself.

The latter would be so terrible.

IMO I'll be fine with single file restarts again.
