I think that's just how plate racing has evolved and how the rules package has made the racing so tight. And I suppose that as a fan, a star winning the Daytona 500 makes it feel more special.

Gordon winning the 2005 after Smoke dominated it is what it was all about. But there are so many good plate drivers today, and in a a style of racing that's such a gamble, you get crap shoots.

Yep. Won it the same year he won Daytona.

I’m not sure on that, been a good bit since I watched the 91 Daytona 500, I wasn’t alive for it. I’ve just seen old races.

Did I say he was good? No. I said he won Dover, thus he won somewhere other than a plate track like you said he only won on. You get so upset when you get proven wrong lol. I love ya man but Jesus Christ you was wrong about Cope. Accept it. The others you mentioned spot on, they only have won Plate tracks(in the Cup Series).
 
Plate racing has been that way forever and close minded heads still explode. The insanity is that they still watch after feeling so strongly about it...or is there some other reason to watch? Joey's hair, graphics, or to heckle the announcing or anything else they can find to try to make themselves feel they have some control of things?

Cope sucked as a cup driver. Do you have an argument?
 
Funny thing is about his Daytona 500 win. He didn’t win because of some huge crash. He won because Earnhardt’s tire. Which could literally happen at any track.

Nah I wasn’t wrong. My comment referenced the careers of those drivers. They suck. They aren’t a threat ever. Except in a schit plate race; that’s the only shot they have at a win. That’s the gist of my original post, not what you want to twist it into.
The drivers I referenced suck. They aren’t a threat at any other track than this schit pack racing at Daytona or Talladega. They aren’t a threat anywhere else. That’s my point. That’s what I meant.

I mean I also never said he did or didn’t suck, he definitely wasn’t a great driver. All I said was he won somewhere besides a plate track. If he left Cope out, or left out the part about not winning anywhere else, I wouldn’t be able to argue because he wouldn’t be wrong.

There is strategy in a plate race. Pit stops fuel mileage etc


Best off all understanding the draft and as it sr says seeing the air

I have said it here MANY times. I watch ONLY so that I can understand what happened and why, just like watching the news. No enjoyment derived from it at all, even when my drivers win. My take is that they could just draw a random number out of a bingo wheel and save everybody a lot if trouble and money. There were two components to today's race: follow the leader and mindless crashes. I don't see any reason to get all excited about either scenario.

They killed Fontana for me when they took away the Thursday fan appreciation day and hauler parade. I have always enjoyed watching that race on tv better anyway. But that being said, I hope you and Clutch have a great time this year watching Bowman win.:) :punkrocke

What’s your beef with my original post? My original post was that Cope was a hack and only won plate races. Your argument is that he also won an obscure Dover race?
Ok, he won a Dover race. He was a crap driver that didn’t win schit in Cup. Where do you want to go with this?
