How will NASCAR enforce this?

I think more people are genuinely intrigued by it more-so than they are out with their pitchforks. I mean I don't see how they can possibly get away with something like that, but I'm not gonna throw a fit if they do.

And this is my biggest thing with NASCAR.. if u get on a good team that can do stuff like this it don’t matter who the hell the driver is smh.. you really never know who is really wheeling it or who is cheating

I hope you are trolling because I sure wouldn't want to think you are serious. Your boy wouldn't have caught him if he had taken the back glass out of the car.:D

How you know he close down to 2 seconds at one point

For real though.. I'm much more interested in HOW they might get it to do that and still pass inspection than I am about whether or not it was an advantage or if it's illegal.

For it to bend like that and still make it through the laser would it be some sort of reinforcement missing from the inside? To me it also looks like not only the sheet metal is skewed but the actual glass itself.. and if it can do that but not fail inspection it's have to go back.. how?

Reminds me of this show from back in the day:

My guess is that after the 4 team sees what the roof is doing they will fix it immediately because when you put a body in the tunnel they want the air to go across the roof as clean and undisturbed as possible. That definitely was disturbing the air and may have been hurting their performance if anything.

That was my thought too.. if it's going down in that groove then chances are it would come off the back of the car straighter and higher than it should and more than likely take down force out of the rear.. but on the flip side if it isnt then it could be adding some. Not sure.. I can see an argument for either side.. I'm no expert lol

I'm no expert on these cars either, when we go to the tunnel we are not concerned about turning...our motto is "if you can still turn then you are not going fast enough".:D

There are no supporting structures for the roof panel other than its mounting points. It’s 24 gauge material ... quite thin and given what we see in the door area, flexible.

The back window is not glass but rather 3/16” Lexan ... also flexible.

Last season the Penske Fords had their driver doors pushed in with no recourse.

If the proper amount of braces were installed not a thing is gonna happen. Tip of the cap to Rodney and the gang.

Last year they found something with the 22 car (forgot what it was). Once it was taken away both Penske cars were less competitive.

This is may be a new soap opera...as the cars turn and the roof tweaks. It will be interesting to see what they find and if it changes their performance any. I will say it won't.

Good article and while it is speculation, the writer provides an idea what that is doing.

"...letting more air come down the right side of the rear window would guide air specifically to the right side of the rear spoiler. More air on the right over the left might keep the car more planted on the entry.

When Harvick or anyone else steps into the corner, the rear end wants to jump out. The nose weight shifts to the bottom on the cut of the wheel, the rear weight doesn’t always want to follow suit...
"

1) If the pics are accurate they are cheating.

2) So what. If ya ain't cheatin' ya ain't tryin'.

I recall DW and JG on the broadcast while watching and listening to #4 in car, were commenting about how early Harvick was able to get back into the throttle, compared to other drivers.

At this point in my NASCAR fandom I am finding that I enjoy chaos created by things like this nearly as much as I enjoy the racing. I hope this results in some big drama.
in before some whipersnipe tells us we should all be ashamed and embarrassed, by this total fiasco which is Nascar. Me, I just saw Harvick do what he did in 2015, win twice in a row. :D

Yep good call, I remember that as well. First thing I thought of when I read that article.
