JGR press conference

No, Jayski has made a career out of being 50% right. This came out of Mooresville. A family member who has worked inside the sport says the hot that Matt is ready for some kind of a change. Didn't say anything until I saw about the pc.

Jayski made a career out of being an aggregator posting other people's reporting and speculating. He's neither 'right' when something he posts turns out to be accurate nor 'wrong' when it doesn't. The original source is. He collates the existence of published rumors elsewhere.

If you're going to compare yourself to Jayski, here's what your remarks would have looked like as a Jayski post.

Kenseth / JGR press conference: JGR has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday April 19 at 2:00 PM Eastern. Subject unknown. (04-13-2017)

UPDATE: Matt Kenseth to retire???
A guy I'm related to who used to have a job in NASCAR in some capacity says he's hearing that Matt Kenseth is ready for a change of some kind. Naturally this means that Kenseth will retire upon completion of the 2017 season. (A family member who used to work in the sport said this when I was over for spaghetti dinner, audio unavailable. Maybe he'd had too much to drink, I dunno.) (04-18-2017)

UPDATE 2: JGR announces Circle K will sponsor Matt Kenseth and the #20 JGR Toyota Camry for six races in 2017. (04-19-2017)

What a fantastic retirement/farewell tour paint scheme that is

Care for a little wager?
Haha. When I first saw the thread I wanted to write "C'mon, he's not retiring, it's Circle K" but that last reddit debacle has me a bit gun shy. Now I have to speak in riddles like a millennial.

Hey man, how long do you expect Kenseth to keep racing? Do you think he has multiple years remaining? You can answer in a riddle if you like ;)

I bet he will have to do a lot of meet and greets.:)

C'mon give me a mysterious Carl Edwards is returning riddle

Two more after this season (so 2019). Again, purely a guess. I don't even think he knows.

Yeah I think he could probably go a decade if he wanted but the Toyota camp will be getting a little full.

I think Matt's deal is up with JGR after this season, but there could be a new deal coming with JGR .. or perhaps Furniture Row, who seems to want to continue with a 2 car team into the future. It kind of depends on Erik Jones's situation. Furniture Row could expand further as well. If he has to leave the Toyota family I would think there would still be some opportunities out there for him, but you never know. I figured fellow oldster, Greg Biffle, would get a decent gig after leaving Roush, but he wound up out of work.

Why couldnt Kenseth just resign with Gibbs then be swapped out for Jones. FRR is essentially a JGR team.... and then Kenseth could probably race into his 50's on a contending team. To me its a simple solution really

Yeah I think he drives a couple more years after this until that young hotshot William By...oh wait, they screwed that one up.

JGR and FRR are two seperate entities, but they do have a strong alliance. Erik Jones is under contract for this year to FRR .. not JGR. Still though, I would think they would be able to work something out to keep Kenseth on board with Toyota. Visser and Gibbs seem to have a great working relationship. Weird deal though in that FRR's cars are all built in Colorado, but Jones and Truex Jr. reside in NC all year long .. they commute to Colorado on occasion, but mainly work out of Charlotte. The crew chiefs for those cars actually live in Colorado, as do most of the team members.

They did but they have Christopher Bell and he's damn good. Hendrick better be careful or they will screw up that Byron deal too.

Kenseth to the #5, or is that Edwards? Time for Hendrick to drop Kasey but there may be room for him at SHR in the #10. :D

^^^ I tried dropping this clue yesterday! I'm bummed out no one read into it.

I didn't see that post. Otherwise, I would have felt like a fortune teller... would have definitely caught on. Lol goshdangit.

Right, Matt's contract is up this year, I agree that FRR could expand to three cars, I dont see it happening in 2018.

Pretty sure the chassis are built at Gibbs.

**snicker**

If someone can’t find a chuckle or three in this forum they’re either resisting or just flat unconscious.

And that doesn't even include the DP thread which is a perpetual knee slapper

I know how it works. Jones is a JGR driver at FRR until a seat opens up on the JGR team. I would also think Toyota would work something out in Kenseth/Jones swap if need be.

Kenseth.....

“I’m just glad I’m still driving tomorrow,” he said. “I wasn’t sure after all the reports on the Internet all weekend. People blowing me up during my Easter vacation, so I appreciate that. Whoever didn’t have anything else to do in their basement this weekend.”

How many more years does the 2003 champion plan to race?

“Fifteen to 20,” he said with typical deadpan. “If Tom Brady can play football at 40 and still win Super Bowls, I think 45 is pretty young to try to win races.”
