Lappy's racing up-dates!

I started the 1st heat 4th, so that means i drew #7 of 10 cars.

Heat - 4/5

Started 7th in the feature, i ran 3rd most of what seemed like a 500 lap race, but on the last lap i was able to get a good run and take the 2nd spot!

Feature - 2/10

My best friend won, and after the race i pulled behind him and was in the pic with him. he won 6 races this year, and the track championship for the 2nd year in a row. (and this is just his 2nd year in racing)

This is my last chance of they year to pick up a win. I have won once this year, but have had a lot more heart ach then good times it seems. I was very happy with 2nd last week, heck i was just happy to be able to finish the feature. I really want to pick up a win at PIR because of the family history there, maybe lady luck will be on our side, and we wont have none of the r word.

Im starting to sound like Mark Martin, saying im done but keep adding races, i got a letter from Clarksville (TN) Speedway, and they are having a $200 to win tomm night. 200 to win is a nice pay check in our class, so im going for it. I have 2 4th place finishes at the 1/4 track, but one was a DNF. Hopefully i can get some good luck and pull off a soild finish to end the season out. would love a win but just want to finish.

10/04/2006 - Clarksville STORMPAY.com Speedway. (Clarksville, TN)
Gates - 12 noon

Good LUCK, be safe,:beerbang: WEAR YOUR THERMALS and as Kellogs said, nothing wrong with sounding like Mark!

Draw - 2

Raced in heat #2 - 2

Feature - 4

Raced at the track 3 times, and finished 4th each time. was 3ed on last lap, got passed comming out of 4, had about a 4 lap battle with the guy. had a lot of fun!

Next race.....some were between next week and march..lol

2007 - I will be running for National Points. U.M.P. 4 Cylinders www.umpracing.com

DIRT motorsports owners of UMP will start a 4 cyl class for 2007. I will be running for national points, like the UMP mods and lates do. I know i just finished my 1st full year, and olny got 1feature win, but im going for that national championship, Just how cool would that be to be the 1st UMP World 4cyl champ! But if i don't pull it off at least i had fun!

Right now, i am looking for some sponsers to help with the ease of building a new car. Right now we are reciving no outside help. besides with a small discount on vinal. So anything can help, even if its something small. No i am not asking for money from anyone, just giving everyone an update on the status.

Kat if ya want, we can make this a sticky again, and just call it "Lappys racing updates" "Slick Nick's Racing Updates" or even change the year every year..lol...just whatever works, and just keep the same threed going. ohh yeah, thanks for the 6 packer! i am of age ;) :beerbang: :growl:

Welp, im off to class, ya'll having a goodone....peace out

Slick Nick

UMP Adds Two Entry-Level Divisions To Sanctioning Lineup In 2007
By Kevin Kovac

EVANSVILLE , IN – Nov. 7, 2006 – Two entry-level racing classes will be added to the United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) fold in 2007, bringing to seven the number of divisions sanctioned by the DIRT MotorSports-owned organization.

Best known for sanctioning dirt Late Model and open-wheel Modified racing at nearly 100 tracks across the country, UMP is expanding its divisional lineup with economical Factory Stock and Four-Cylinder classes in hopes of providing aspiring drivers another path to begin an advance through the UMP ranks. “This is a way to recognize all the racers who are just starting out and make them part of something,” said UMP director Sam Driggers. “Now when they move up to other classes, they’ll already know what UMP is and what UMP can do for them.”

Both divisions will bring tracks’ existing entry-level classes under the UMP umbrella. The Factory Stock classification includes such divisional names as American Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Novices, while the Four-Cylinder class encompasses divisions such as Mini-Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets and Warriors.

The UMP Factory Stocks and Four-Cylinders will follow all local track rules with one exception: cars in both divisions must run street tires only.

Both classes will have UMP National points races in 2007. Twenty races will be used to determine the National point standings, meaning drivers will have an opportunity to begin replacing their worst finishes after reaching that mark.

UMP has established a $2,650 points fund for the National points battles, with $500 earmarked for the first-ever UMP national champion in each class. The top 20 drivers in the National standings will receive points-fund cash at the annual UMP Awards Banquet.

“We’re starting with a National points fund for the two divisions,” said Driggers. “If the drivers in the divisions get involved with UMP, we will add more points money in the years to come.”

Drivers must be UMP members to be eligible to share in the Factory Stock and Four-Cylinder points funds. A membership will cost $75 per driver with UMP insurance included.

Upon joining UMP, members will receive the organization’s regular newsletter as well as a membership kit that includes a membership card, decals and other items.

In 2006 UMP sanctioned five divisions – dirt Late Models, open-wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Limited Modifieds and Street Stocks – and 87 racetracks. The organization will distribute over a half-million dollars in points fund cash during its annual awards banquet on Jan. 20 at the Springfield ( Ill. ) Hilton.

The 2007 technical rules for all UMP divisions except the Late Models have been released. Competitors can obtain a copy of the rules by visiting the UMP website at www.umpracing.com and printing them; calling the UMP office at 812-426-1200; or contacting their local UMP tracks. Sets of rules will also be available from UMP officials at selected off-season trade shows.

The UMP Late Model division’s 2007 rules are currently being completed and are expected to be released shortly.

That insurance, would of been handy this past racing year.

UPDATE:

I have since almost fully recoved from my wreck, vision is still somewhat screwed up, and of couse my brain wont be 100% for another 4 months. Medical bills pilling up, so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Nick Alexander

Nick, I don't think you communicated the after effects of that wreck until now :( NO MORE BEER!!! :)

From the looks are things Ky. Lake Motor Speedway (KLMS) will not be doing a weekly race in 2007, maybe im wrong, but i looked at the shedule and its not looking to good so far. If that is the case i will for sure be running at Clarksville Speedway in TN on sat. nights in 2007. I am looking for a track to run on fir night. You can just count one race a week, but it will be your best finish. so if you can race 2-3 times a week the better you are, unless you win the 1st night. So Hopefully i can find me a track in KY to race at on fir nights and no olny go for the National Tital but 2 state titals. We just got to see how the cards play out over the next few months.

Kat.
All i really know is i had a major concussion, As of right now i am back to 100% besides my vision. It is fine for the most part, just trying to read the board at school is the hardest part. They said it would take me 6 months for my brain to get back to 100%, i belive that is the time frame for the type of concussion that i took.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone!

I wont be on much the next few days, so if i dont get to say it then Happy Thanksgiving everyone, enjoy time spent with familey, friends, inlaws, outlaws, pets, just everyone! ohh yeah, dont eat to much!

Peace Out!

Nick

UPDATE:

KLMS to run special events only. so looks like i will be racing weekly in Clarksville, if in fact i do the ump thing.

How far is Clarksburg from you? When will the season start? Please keep us updated!

Maybe you can get in touch with Dale Jr about racing with a concusstio, or Steve Park (altho Steve's injury was a lot more severe).

Here's to you continued recovery!:beerbang:

which driver was it that went like 6 races with a concussion without telling NASCAR just so he wouldn't get sat out? Was that Jr?

Clarksville is like an hour and 1/2 one way.

Racing will start the 1st or 2nd week of March, but point racing will no start tell the last weekend in march.

Hopefully, i wont have any more concussions any time soon!

May 12, 2007 - Soggy Bottom Speedway. $250 to win.

It is now up in the air where i will run in 07, i may just tour and run differnt tracks. and not stick to the same thing each week. Time will olny tell, plus iv got tell March to deside.

I have desided to run for UMP national points. While doing that (this is were the big chunk of crow will come from...) I will be going for a track championship at Paducah Int. Just desided to run for a track championship while im still young and am able to do it.

(hope i dont get in troble for this) I'm going to get some t-shirts made up in the next few months, so if anyone wants to buy on hit me up. They will be somewhere around 15 dollors.

More dates to be added. Check back soon. As of today 2/1/07 i have 37 races down for the year. Going to try to make it to least 40 this year. and as many as i can from March 30-Sep 30 for UMP national points.
