MLB 2014

:sigh: Orioles. Embarrassing and epic choke job against the Red Sox. Again.

Speaking of, am I the only one who finds Boston sports fans in general to be possibly even more obnoxious than Yankees fans.

Take it like a man Andy. Just bend over for us. :D

Equal parts obnoxious...

Angels' closers failed again today. Color me shocked.

To expound on what I said yesterday, the Indians apparently have forgotten how to play offense or defense and for the most part, their pitching isn't often much better. It's not just that the Indians aren't getting hits, they aren't doing the little things well, like moving runners along and scoring runners from third with less than two outs. These are professional baseball players that can't get a bunt down or get a ground ball to the right side with a runner on second and nobody out, or simply hit a medium deep fly ball when that's all that is needed. They take it upon themselves to bunt with two outs and nobody on and that is guys who have no speed so it's not like they are doing it to try to steal a base to get into scoring position after the surprise bunt works. Their defense is horrendous. Nick Swisher seems like he just half-asses his way around first base most of the time. Yan Gomes made an amazingly low like 3 errors over the entire season last year where he slowly took over the everyday catching job from Carlos Santana. This year, for some reason, he has at least like 7 or 8 errors already this month just from heaving the ball into center field trying to throw out attempting basestealers. Asdrubal Cabrera makes some amazing highlight plays at short and then just boots balls that should be easy plays for any major league infielder.

Or not.

The East had a pretty underwhelming opening month.

They have another game tonight. At least they're not at the very bottom anymore.

Boston doesn't look right though. The pitching its still a concern. Bucholz is garbage.

Spoke too soon.

Both the Rays and Sox should be better than this.

God, some of that sounds truly painful to watch. Bunt with a slow baserunner with two outs and nobody on? Yeesh.

Sorry that Anaheim poured salt in that losing streak wound but WE'RE ABOVE .500!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!

Tampa Bay and Yankees are playing each other. @FLRacingFan doesn't know what to do with himself.

For one brief evening, at least, the Indians offense resembled a major league baseball team. Elliot Johnson, who I still have no idea why he is on the team, dropped two sure fire double play balls at second base that led to several unearned runs and the starting pitcher throwing way too many pitches than he should have had to to get out of the early innings. But a 12-5 win was just what the doctor ordered.

Enjoy it while you can, Andy. As a Ranger fan during the Josh Hamilton era I've seen the best and worst of Mr. Cruz over the past few years, and while his best is great, his worst cost the Rangers a World Series victory with his horrible version of defense in right field. He can go on incredible hot streaks where he can carry a team and then he can go so cold that it seems like he is totally clueless and isn't even trying to make any adjustments at the plate.

What a great game to finish up a sweep of the first place Tigers for the Indians. The Indians finally won the game 11-10 in 13 innings yesterday when the Tigers' relief pitcher balked with the bases loaded and two outs. It was a crazy game. The Tigers scored 4 runs in the top of the first and with Max Scherzer pitching for Detroit (who came into the game leading the league in just about every category you can imagine) I almost just turned it off. But, the Indians offense had really come to life the last few days and had just lit up Justin Verlander the night before, so I figured I'd give it another inning or two. The Indians scored one run off of Scherzer and then five more in the second and then another in the third. The guy had given up a total of 12 runs in his first 9 starts and here the Indians got to him for 7 runs in just 3 innings. The Indians still needed a two run homer from David Murphy in the ninth of closer Joe Nathan to send it into extra innings. The Tigers took a 1 run lead in the top of the 13th, but the Indians tied it on a single by Michael Brantley before loading the bases and winning on the balk.

How the ****k do you go from untouchable champions to bottom feeders is less than a year?

Red Sox suck so badly. The ****t is the matter with these ****heads.

Pfft, they haven't soiled the bed as bad as Tampa Bay has. Second-worst team in the AL right now. Back to their first decade of existence.

And the Tribe pulls out another one in extra innings. I can see fatigue setting in, especially in the pitching staff, if this keeps up though.

Welcome to your 9th straight loss Red Sox. Irredeemable ****toys.

Clay Buchholz is just about useless right now. Six walks in not even three innings so far.

Josh Beckett threw a no-hitter against the Phillies last night, in Philadelphia, no less. Surprisingly, at least to me, it was his first no-hitter. He's pitched pretty poorly over the past few years and been injured to varying degrees over much of that time as well, but before that he was pretty dominant for quite some time. I kind of figured he would have thrown one during that time, I guess.

Bump*

Angels vs A's going to the top of the 14th tied 1-1 right now. Both teams have left 7 stranded thus far. It's stressful.

Anyone wants some aging former all stars the team thats gone from World f$%$ing champions to quote Chase Utley to worst in the NL in 6 years is probably willing to give them to you. On the bright side the Phillies have won 2 straight, on the down side the last time we won 3 straight was last July.

Tony Gwynn has passed away. One of the best hitters ever, and one of my favorite non-Brave players to watch growing up. Gone too young. Cancer sucks.
