Montoya out of EGR in 2014

In Cup cars the expectations just havent been met. A change is long overdue.

I agree, but disagree. I think to build a successful team you need to have successful drivers. Other than his 2011 season McMurray hasn't done squat. Right now Montoya has been out performing McMurray. I think it would have been better for Ganassi to move Juan to the one, and then move Larson to the 42. I think it would have built for a better overall team.
 
Juan's honestly not that far from a WC spot if a small handful of things go his way.

1) Caution doesn't come out at Richmond - Win #1
2) Holds off Stewart for the final three laps at Dover - Win #2
3) Doesn't run out of gas on the last lap at Sonoma - 2nd place

Holy hell that is tough.

I sensirely hope Larson doesn't get to overwhelmed which seems destined to happen at that pace.

Ganassi and Sabates are force feeding him and giving him more than he can chew.

I guess they want Larson at all cost, even if it means ruining him in the process.

Mcmurray average finish is better and the money won by both is pretty close. Keep laughing at us dude, we are laughing at you, 2nd best finish this year was last week at Bristol...and his highest starting position all year he does the next weekend. ha ha ho ho..

McMurray hasn't had his car in contention for wins this year. Juan has several times.

Ehh, his car was crap, he got lucky at Dover because of pit road, and Sonoma was only second (as they say close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades). He would have won at Richmond if the caution hadnt come out, but McMurray had a race where if it werent for very bad luck, he would have won -- Kentucky (he was reeling in Kenseth and if it would have gone 3 more laps he would have won). They are even, but McMurray has a MUCH better personality, and doesnt wreck the field. Case closed.

That's a shame between the two he is the only one that can close a deal on the ovals.

It is all about DINERO and EGR made a business decision by trying to low ball Montoya. Now, you hear Chip Ganassi saying that Montoya has the door open since in his opinion anything can happen and opportunities might open up for Montoya with EGR. I dont believe the relationship will stay smooth since Chip Ganassi and his manager had said that Montoya was not a fit for them anymore due to his driving. Then yesterday, said, it was a marketability decision with Target. The reality is that Montoya knows car racing and he was not going to be shorten in a contract; he is too proud. Montoya was born a car driver willing to give up his life to win so a "big shot" put one of these proud Colombians against the wall and tells him his driving is not good in order to leverage his way into a cheap contract, and Montoya´s response "go to hell with your cars, your cheap DINERO, your teams, I dont give a damn if you keep me or not. "Take this job and shove it up your ....". If Montoya did not back off at 285 MPH when put against the wall, he was not going to back off from non sense and greed. MUCHO DINERO MUCHOS DOLARES.

Rain is in play tomorrow at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Tomorrow´s race at AMS is Montoya´s best start position this season, third place - second row. It is going to be a marketing nightmare for EGR and Target, if Montoya continues to do well.

That might be the case if Target is opening stores in Japan since I have not seen many Japanese at Target.

Maybe EGR is going to Toyota Motors of Japan for its engines.

Chip Ganassi said the main reason is that Kyle Larson is an up and coming prospect who finishes strong at the end of races.

Montoya would have cost more in the short term.

main reason..Montoya didn't earn his keep and didn't appreciate his ride. thought it was better to hang out in Miami with the family instead of at the race track with the crew. Worked for quite a while, but he rode that horse into the ground. Got to go.

Montoya came to Nascar because the schedule allowed him to be closer to his wife and three very young children. This is the idea that was sold to him about Nascar. Nascar presents itself as a family oriented business so If you are going to tell all the Nascar wives with young children that your parents are going to be away 10 months out of the year as long as they drive you go tell them.

During opening ceremonies, we can see how all drivers are joined by their families; God Family and Country.

EGR with not have to deal with Kyle in that regard as long as he does not get married and have no children. He will drive full time at Nationwide, except to races, and full time at Sprint Cup. I take he will be available 24/7 for team crew meetings.

There are 12 races left. Hopefully the 42 Team is able to put it together for the remainder of the season. There still room left for redemption.

At this point in the season, 32 points lost opportunity at Sonoma hurt Montoya´s chances to make the 2013 Chase.

Montoya can help himself by ending 17th in the standings after tonight´s race in Hampton, Georgia. He can still finish 13th in the standings this season.

There are some who will not recognize Montoya as one of the top 17th drivers in the Sprint Cup even IF he wins tonight or place Top 5 in the Advocare 500.

Anyways, it is raining in Atlanta and will rain on the track shortly. I am thinking 9:30 to 10 PM starts.

Montoya needs to gain 26 points to move from 21st to 18th in the standings. Starts on second row.

This might be a night where he can make top number of laps and lead the first lap. We will see.
 
Montoya is just another open wheel driver that can't get the hang of driving a loose racecar. Some drivers can make the transition, some cannot. I think open wheel drivers could benefit from running a year or so in a dirt sprint before coming to NASCAR.
