How is this any different from a car that fails to meet the cursory post-race inspection they have now? If you were still in the stands when the announcement was made, would you feel any different than if you were sitting in the car waiting to get out of the lot?
STICK AND BALL ALERT - I gave this a little thought ('cause that's about all I'm capable of) and came to think of this in terms of other sports. It's not uncommon for a player suspension to be announced a day or two after an offense. I don't think that keeps people from showing up, especially if they already have tickets.
Would you feel the same way if another driver besides Shrub was penalized like this? It's not a problem if you wouldn't; nothing wrong with being a fan of an individual driver. But sooner or later, he's going to quit racing. Whether by penalty or retirement, NASCAR's going to lose you anyway.
