NASCAR considering radical changes to playoff system

I have two thoughts on why the change , one, NASCAR got tired of JJ48 winning championships , or maybe they want to help him tie Sr. and Petty, and, this might be more of a conspiracy theory , but I find it funny that the first the #3 is back, is when they made a change, and with NASCAR giving the Austin the win for the 500 , that helps stay in the hunt to make to Homestead, I think they want Austin to win the championship

Of course I am just talking out my rear end a little bit, but NASCAR is a lot more like the WWE , so I wouldnt put it past them either , and I hope the JJ48 wins the title this year just to slap NASCAR in face

Might as well just have only the drivers that are in final round race at
Homestead, because one, that is how a "real" playoff system works" and two, because those are the only drivers that are going to be covered on TV.

Might as well do run two race's at Homestead, one for just the Chase drivers and for all the rest, what a joke.

I sort of like it, but the whole winner takes all has made the other 35 points races meaningless, drivers are going to get the "one win" needed, then sand bag the rest of season and just make sure that they are in the top 16 , at this point, might as well just make the season one race at Homestead, since its winner takes all, what is the point ?.

This could of been a great idea, but King Faux has to have everything like stick and ball sports, and doesnt f*ing realize that NASCAR is about auto racing, what a tool, I see time outs coming and half time coming in 2015, (going back to Crastman Truck Series when they had half time break)

This is obviously a huge change but it will generate tremendous excitement. I'll wait to see how it all plays out before passing judgment.

Brian said the points are reset after Richmond before the"Challenger round" begins. Then the points are reset again after the next 3 races before the "Contender round" begins. He never said the points would be reset again but it has me wondering.

It wouldn't surprise me if the points are continuously reset throughout the 3 phases of the chase until the final 2 contenders start Homestead tied in points via the hand of nascar.

If that's the case the championship will be completely hollow and not even worthy of bragging rights.

lol Just kidding. It's not worthy of bragging rights now.

Brian France is a dumbass surrounded by a group of asskissers.

I wish him every misery that life can offer.

That's exactly how it works, according to Jayski, and I agree, that pretty much makes it a total farce.

It was before my time, but I've always heard that in the 50s and 60s, the championship wasn't really a big deal, it was more about the individual races. Guess I'll have to approach this season like that.

.......This.

I think one of his main things is that there are waaay more casual fans and non fans than there are avid fans. They know were not going anywhere even if we hate it. They're trying to attract these other guys... It's not right but I'm thinking their train of thought is if they lose 10% of their avid fans and gain even 5% of the others... they come out ahead.

Let's also not forget that Kyle has never won a single chase race. Well.... not well he was actually in the chase. Is it any wonder he doesn't like that you HAVE to win in the chase? :D :p

lol Yea, that's why he doesn't like it. ...insert sarcasm emote here

Here's a question.. remember how he said basically the other drivers are fighting for 5th? Are the first 4 eliminated fighting for 13th.. 2nd 4 for 9th? Or if your eliminated in the first round can u come back to finish 5th?

The only reason I have a satellite is for the racing. I pay about $80 a month (need to check with wife for exact price). I am thinking I will cancel, the BS aint worth it. I will watch what I can only get for free.

I have attended countless races Cup or old GN races going back to 1971. Even raced with borrowed money at times.

And I dont I think I the only disgusted old timer.

How would they gain anything when 5% is less than 10%?

No, but seriously, I understand their train of thought, and I touched on your point earlier in this thread. From a cold hard dollars and cents perspective it makes sense. I just don't like it, for two reasons: 1) I'm part of the group that they apparently consider expendable, the die-hard fans that pretty much brought NASCAR to the dance in the first place, and 2) I'm just not convinced they're going to gain these legions of new fans that they're hoping to gain by making this change.
