How long before one of the brilliant ones in the booth say something like "if this was a knockout race" or This is how hat championship race will look" or something equally as dumb?
I think points are nonexistent when they start Homestead. Finishing position is all that matters.
Hey, I was just kiddin'I wouldn't skip any races just like I wouldn't skip a Steelers game during the regular season.
God how I wish people wold stop trying to make this a stick and ball sport. It never was, and it just can't be.
I give it 3 weeksHow long before one of the brilliant ones in the booth say something like "if this was a knockout race" or This is how hat championship race will look" or something equally as dumb?
Like i said earlier, the regular season doesn't interest me. I'm more than positive that Jeff Gordon can eek out a win and if not he will certainly finish high enough in the points to earn a seed. The Chase is where the "excitement" begins.
It's racing. The format can't ruin it. All will be fine, and there is no question that the Champion will be worthy. You will still have to go through the 48 to get to the Cup. Can't wait.
If they did what they had to do to make it to the final round... and beat the guy who has been dominating... then absolutely yes! What if someone like JJ dominates all three segments of the chase with multiple wins, dominates 80% of the final race, but is collected in someone else's wreck near the end and DNF's. He had no points cushion because nascar kept erasing them.
Will you still feel the driver crowned as champion that day was worthy?

Inspired by NASCAR's new Chase format, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has announced that the score in the 4th quarter of tomorrow night's Super Bowl will be reset to 0-0 at the two-minute warning.

This is a good point... do these teams enter the super bowl with the points they've accumulated throughout the season?Inspired by NASCAR's new Chase format, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has announced that the score in the 4th quarter of tomorrow night's Super Bowl will be reset to 0-0 at the two-minute warning.
Yes. It's freakin' racing, and crap happens. Same thing could have happened to him last year at Homestead. You know why it didn't? Because he is JJ and he is freakin' great. I get your point. However, look at it another way.....this is an opportunity for JJ to win in another format, and enhance his greatness. He has won in different cars and formats. I am certain that none of us will be surprised by who makes the Final Four.
I mean by doing the best under the current points system... it is what it is. If someone wrecks out of a cup in the last race... sucks to be him. Should have been more careful..By "beat the guy who has been dominating" you mean having nascar continuously erase his points so the other teams had a shot, then having dumb luck take care of the rest, right?
Or the 48 can have one fluke incident and lose the title. Entirely illegitimate, in my opinion. It's racing. The format can't ruin it. All will be fine, and there is no question that the Champion will be worthy. You will still have to go through the 48 to get to the Cup. Can't wait.

Hence why everything should not hinge on one race.Yes. It's freakin' racing, and crap happens.
So r u mad at the NFL's point system when a football player fumbles the ball on the last play and they don't win? "But wait! They were the best team all season!"Or the 48 can have one fluke incident and lose the title. Entirely illegitimate, in my opinion.
Assuming it was their fault and that they weren't taken out by a backmarker like Kvapil. How many times was he in the fence at Homestead? If someone wrecks out of a cup in the last race... sucks to be him. Should have been more careful..
Whether it was their fault or not... too bad.... is it the receiver's fault the QB didn't throw it right to him? Nope.. but they still lose.Assuming it was their fault and that they weren't taken out by a backmarker like Kvapil. How many times was he in the fence at Homestead?

I think one of the biggest embarrassments in all of sports was when Alabama got a second chance at LSU back in 2011.So r u mad at the NFL's point system when a football player fumbles the ball on the last play and they don't win? "But wait! They were the best team all season!"
I don't follow football. Gets in the way of NASCAR.I think one of the biggest embarrassments in all of sports was when Alabama got a second chance at LSU back in 2011.
Difference is football is a team sport. An individual goes down in the record books as Sprint Cup champion. An individual drives the car.Whether it was their fault or not... too bad.... is it the receiver's fault the QB didn't throw it right to him? Nope.. but they still lose.

It's all circumstance.. regardless of the points system the circumstances have to work out for the guy who ends up winning the cup. You telling me Brad is illegitimate because JJ blew a tire at Phoenix and because his TEAM missed a lug nut at Homestead?
Once again... I don't follow football so Im not sure of what u mean by that but in any case... Seattle would deserve the win.that's very different from what FL is saying. What if Tom Brady sacks Peyton and Seattle wins?
I was talking about a driver getting caught up in someone else's mess and you know it....and an individual wrecks it.
No, because JJ overdrove the car at Phoenix and Brad beat him in 5 of the 9 Chase races before the finale. At least there's a larger sample size to be judged upon. It's all circumstance.. regardless of the points system the circumstances have to work out for the guy who ends up winning the cup.
