NASCAR Death Bed

Dewar is the idiot that said most of NASCAR’s fans live in California. Phelps was bitching/blaming social media and the press for speaking of all the negatives surrounding Nsscar. A ****roach would have more on the go than Dewar and Brian combined so Phelps wins automatically. So far he has acted like a shill but time will tell if he can turn the ship around.

Tough to have a private plane, pilot, RV, RV driver, mansion, car collection, place to house it, trophy wife,...etc. on that. LOL.
Not many back in the day had all those extras and I doubt if many in the future will.

Kinda what I was thinking. I think they're ( new owners) keeping things quiet. Just my guess. I'm guessing also this deal has been in the works for several months. They may be in far better shape than folks like us would know. Obviously, FRR was a top notch organization. So, who knows? Could we see them at Daytona? That would be great.
Fingers crossed. They were a championship-winning group of people, so you know they have outstanding credentials and will surely be snatched up somewhere.

NHMS has removed more seats.

There are many other tracks that need to reduce seating as well. The optics of race tracks with thousands of empty seats is bad. If the seats can’t be removed then at least cover them up

why? What is the big deal about empty seats? I go to the theater and 1/4 of all the seats are empty. I noticed in the new ones they have very few seats, I wonder why, other than space.

We will not be happy until every seat is occupied. I say we take out every single seat. Then, we force fans to bring their favorite lawn chair, bag chair, folding chair, whatever you want to call it. That way, there will never be an empty seat in the venue. No more empty seats to count. No more pulling out the heavy tarps, covering the stands, to fool the empty seat counters into believing that there is a larger crowd. It's a win win for everybody.

The only other option that I can come up with is to buy a ticket. On the other hand, it's much easier to sit at home in our easy chairs expressing our concern for the lack of butts in the track-side seats. Ironic, isn't it?

Most all sports go through down times. NASCAR is there right now. It will take time to rebound. I'm thinking the unbridled optimism in the 90s- early 2000s, lead the track owners to overbuild. So now there are too many seats. The only remedy I can see is to lower ticket prices, and put on great races. NASCAR did their part with great racing last year for the most part. This stuff will work itself out over time. I'm not fretting over it myself.

Btw, I'm glad that Fanatics deal fell through. Has anyone seen the hike in prices on Fanatics' website?

Big company, but they have a monopolozation on the sports industry. Honestly, I can see why fans who attend events have not been a fan of purchasing products from them.

Been going to races since 98 and every time I go I purchase merchandise. Hats have always been $25 and T-shirt’s went up by a $1 to 26.

Good point Mack. I have a bad memory but it seems to me that Nascar went to the large track
venues hoping to make more money. These tracks were not built for Nascar, they were built for open wheel cars whose series tanked. Now those same tracks are tanking for Nascar.

I was shooting the breeze with a guy the other day and he was telling me what a positive it was that a couple of top teams were not returning to X. I thought he was joking at first but he was serious, Some people think down us up.

other guy sure must have a perception problem. Blinded by his own agenda I guess and missed or twisted the part where the poster said "from a competator's standpoint" one less cupper and a car that won four races means more opportunity for higher finishing positions when it isn't racing. Nothing was said about two teams. Poor guy, must have been recovering from being gobsmacked. He sure works hard at it though, telling everybody what they already know. .:D

IDK what you are talking about but I will leave you to it. I know you think Nascar is healthy overall and you are looking forward to the start of the season.

In some cases it is more than just the ticket price. Meals, lodging, and fuel costs way more than the ticket usually. Not everybody lives close to a track on the corner.

I have never watched NASCAR or any unsanctioned stock car racing because other people did or didn't watch it, or if the majority of the "in crowd" thought it was cool. I've watched it because I LOVE IT! Period. I couldn't give two squirts of crap if NASCAR is laying people off, that's life. That happens everyday in America. NASCAR, like most businesses didn't go into business to provide jobs and benefits, they went into business to provide entertainment and make a profit doing it. Businesses sometimes grow, peak and shrink. Especially entertainment businesses. Country music is not as popular as it was twenty years ago, neither is NASCAR or the NFL. So be it. It's still popular with me, and that's all that really matters to me. NASCAR will never be non existent. There's going to be NASCAR races for as far as I can see. Will they leave some venues? Perhaps. Will they return to some former venues? perhaps. Will they try new things? Perhaps. Do I think they're aware that things have changed, and they're working to remedy the problems? Yes I do. Deathbed? Not hardly. Downturn and adjustment time? Yep. End of the world? Nope. Monday morning quarterbacks never lose a game, they're smarter that everyone else. They've never put on a helmet either. NASCAR made some bad choices, what business hasn't? The disco/fad crowd has left, good riddance. In a little over a month, stock car racing fans will be tuning in to Speedweeks. I'll be tuned in, and I could care less if the stands are full, or how big the tv audience is. Over time, the problems NASCAR is facing will work themselves out. I ain't to worried about it. It's entertainment, Period

It has been entertaining to watch NASCAR attempt to stumble along and attempting to stem the flow of the fans that have exited. Will the stop anymore fans from heading out the door? Perhaps. Will they right the ship? Perhaps. Will the schedule change after the current agreement with the tracks ends? Perhaps. Will they change the rules to stop cheating? Perhaps, but I doubt it. It will be entertaining to watch the sport for the next 7 years and see what the future brings though. Oh, will NASCAR be sold? Perhaps.

Will the changes run off the nay sayers? Perhaps

Will the protectors of the sport ever see that NASCAR has made HUGE mistakes and driven off more than 1/2 the fans? Perhaps.

I agree with those that say Nascar isn’t going out of business soon. However if young fans can’t be added to the series in reasonable numbers it will end up like IndyCar. NASCAR’s current audience is aging out quickly.

So are the owners of Nascar and just maybe they don't care anymore.

Owners of Nascar, IMSA, Pintys, ARCA, Nascar Whelen Euro series, and part owner of Nascar Mexico. Yeah they don't care anymore. I'm sure one of the "real" fans will pop up to tell us how insignificant their foot print is world wide on the racing scene.
