Race thread: 102nd Indy 500

Still, shows that it isn't a lack of talent thing or anything. Just sh!t happens.
Helio “misjudged with the tires”

Same mistake with putting both lefts on the paint on the throttle.

But its the car.

God forbid racing at 230mph be a challenge.

I wasn't saying it's the car. :p I'm just saying **** and mistakes happen. Doesn't mean anything about talent. The most talented drivers make mistakes sometimes.

Penske better bring Hélio back next year for Indy.

If not, I wonder if someone else would give him a ride, and if he'd take it to be able to race this race.

This is a superior race that will be portrayed as otherwise by people who don't appreciate the nuances of auto racing and need loads of gratuitous (credit to @LewTheShoe) action and meaningless back and forth position shuffling to hold their attention. I find this interesting and full of genuine suspense.
Way too much crashing for me to call it a great race.

Shouldn't the teather on the wheel have kept it from flying away like that?

6 cautions is too much crashing?

These drivers are giving their all every lap, several spins are expected from these cars IMO.

I agree, it's piling up to be a bit much, but it doesn't mean it isn't the right direction overall for the race and series. I suspect a lot of the drivers are conditioned to race with the belief the cars are as stable as they were previously. Adjustments will be made over time.
